The fat boy rolled around in pain, finally scrambling to his feet while Jian Li was busy beating up the others.
When he turned to glare at Jian Yue, baring his teeth, there wasn't a single mark on his fleshy face.
"Jian Yue, just you wait! This isn't over! I'll get my mom..."
Before he could finish, a figure sprang up and slapped him from above.
"Aaah!"
The fat boy squealed like a pig and tumbled back onto the ground.
Jian Li stood over him with a foot on his head. "Kid, go home and tell your mom I beat you up. Let's see how much clout she has, and whether she can get me locked up."
"If she can't, I'll come back every day."
"Every time I see you, I'll beat you up!"
Hearing that, the fat boy nearly wet himself. He stopped struggling, all thoughts of resistance gone.
After all... this guy's punches hurt way too much. He couldn't take them!
If he came every day,
wouldn't that make him a human punching bag?!
"Bro, I was wrong! I'll never act cocky again! Please, give me a way out!" Tears streamed uncontrollably down the fat boy's face.
Once he started backing down, there was no stopping him.
His lackeys followed suit. "Bro, we'll never bully Jian Yue again! From now on, he's the king of the school. We'll follow his lead!"
"Hmph, who wants that?" Jian Yue curled his lip in disdain.
He came to school to study, not to get into fights.
If he could, he would rather be completely invisible!
"That's more like it." Jian Li took his foot away and slowly crouched down. When he raised a hand, the fat boy flinched, only to discover that this fearsome guy was merely patting his cheek. "Don't think you can do whatever you want just because your parents have money and power."
"This society has laws. Go too far, and even your parents won't be able to protect you."
Jian Li stood up, turned, and hooked an arm around Jian Yue's neck. "Come on, little bro. Let's get you something to eat."
Only after they left the secluded alley did Jian Yue wriggle free. "You were way too violent back there."
Jian Li shot him a sidelong look. "Isn't fighting violence with violence the right thing to do? Or were you planning to guilt-trip them?"
"They'd need a conscience for that to work. No one can guilt-trip someone as shameless as me."
"..." Jian Yue narrowed his eyes. "Be honest. Did you take the wrong meds?!"
Jian Li raised an eyebrow. "What? You think there's something wrong with me?"
Jian Yue nodded. "Seriously wrong. It's like you caught some snake-shedding disease. Now that you've shed your skin, I don't even recognize you!"
Jian Li smiled faintly and held out a hand. "Then let's get acquainted again. My name is Jian Li. Currently, I'm your older brother."
Jian Yue stopped. After a few seconds, he slapped the hand away. "Quit messing around. I still haven't forgiven you for what happened before!"
He strode ahead, but seemingly realizing the person behind him wasn't catching up, he deliberately slowed down.
Jian Li couldn't help smiling at the sight. He really was still a kid.
The brothers grabbed some fast food near the school. After paying, as they were about to leave, Jian Li stopped Jian Yue. "What's your WeChat name?"
"Heh." Jian Yue scoffed. "Now that you're with Mr. Lu, you've even forgotten your own brother's name?"
With Mr. Lu?
So that was why he was sulking. Jian Li found it rather amusing. "Haven't you watched the variety show lately?"
"No. I'm a student. My studies come first." Something seemed to occur to Jian Yue, and his face flushed again. "Besides, didn't Lu Siqi give you all those opportunities?"
"You must've paid quite a price for them, huh?!"
Even if he were an idiot, he could still understand his father's fawning words over the phone.
He'd said he would send Jian Li to Lu Siqi's bed and let him do whatever he wanted with him!
Over that, Jian Yue had fallen out with his father and even pulled a knife.
But the person at the center of it all had simply accepted his fate, without the slightest intention of fighting back...
Eventually, Jian Yue had stopped getting involved. It wasn't his life, after all. There was only so much he could interfere with!
Jian Li thought for a moment. "I certainly put in a lot."
How much effort had it taken to put those two bastards in the hospital?!
I'd better get something good to eat later and build my strength back up!
At that answer, Jian Yue was instantly furious and frustrated. His face turned so red it looked ready to bleed. He couldn't get a word out for a long while, then finally stamped his foot. "You're hopeless!"
With that, he headed toward the school.
Jian Li was baffled, but had no intention of chasing after him to ask why.
Instead, Jian Yue turned back in exasperation. "My WeChat name is 'Yue'!"
"Remember it! Don't ask me again!"
Jian Li curled his lips into a smile and made an "OK" gesture.
A moment later, he watched his bristling little brother stomp angrily toward the school again.
After returning to the classroom and sitting down, Jian Yue felt his phone vibrate.
Since hardly anyone ever contacted him, he took it out curiously and found a transfer from his older brother-a full ten thousand yuan.
Startled, Jian Yue immediately sent a message. [Where did you get so much money?]
[Hehe, your big brother's gotten a little famous lately. nonchalant.jgp]
[A little famous?] Jian Yue didn't believe him. [You didn't get this by selling yourself, did you?]
Jian Li pursed his lips. [Just talk. No personal attacks. You think selling myself would only fetch ten thousand? Please upgrade to 10G internet.]
After reading that, Jian Yue didn't reply.
During the lunch break, he opened Weibo and glanced at Jian Li's official account. Half a second later, he suddenly shouted, "Holy shit, five million followers?!"
The classmates napping around him jolted awake and rubbed their eyes. "Who? Five million?"
With the school problem settled, Jian Li went straight to his agency instead of going home.
As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he ran into some of the company's newcomers.
"Hello, Jian Li!"
The newcomers bowed in perfect unison.
Overwhelmed by the attention, Jian Li said, "Hello. Hello, everyone."
"After you, Brother Li!" The newcomers stepped aside and gestured for him to pass.
Jian Li nodded and walked past.
Only once he was far away did they dare enter the elevator.
When the reinforced doors closed, they began talking.
"This company doesn't have a tradition of senior artists beating up newcomers, does it?!"
"Waaah, I wanted to ask that too! If Jian Li's the one doing the beating, I don't think I'll survive until my debut!"
"Surely not. This isn't Korea. Why would there be so much bullying?"
"Okay, but... Brother Li really is so handsome! I signed with this company because of him!"
"..."
Jian Li walked into his manager's office, intending to explain, only to discover an unexpected visitor on the sofa.
He paused in confusion. "Huo Xiao? What are you doing here?"
Li Lu winked, his grin full of suggestive amusement. "He was worried, of course. He came here just to wait for you!"
"Worried about me? Then you can leave. I'm fine." Jian Li sat down casually and crossed his legs.
Before Huo Xiao could speak, Li Lu glared at Jian Li. "Jian Li, why can't you appreciate a kind gesture?"
"He's only just arrived, and you're already chasing him away?"
Huo Xiao's lips curved into a smile. "It's fine. I'm thick-skinned enough. I won't leave even if he tries."
Jian Li: "..." This main villain wasn't acting according to his character!
Li Lu: "..." Wasn't this a front-row seat to his ship sailing?
