After hearing Ryan's report, Leonard Mitchell suspected that someone had been acting.
But the acting method had not been fully disclosed even within the Church, so he had described today's Beyonder incident as someone amusing themselves.
As for which Sequence the Beyonder was acting as, Leonard first thought of the Collector pathway, but what had happened today did not seem to fit the descriptions implied by the potion names he knew.
Then he thought of the Living Corpse of the Prisoner pathway, and he knew that Raphael had most likely already advanced to
Zombie.
But Leonard also felt that acting as a Zombie did not require so much trouble. Sitting up from a hospital bed and giving everyone a fright should have been enough to end the whole performance.
Digging up corpses and bathing in a formalin tank afterward had escalated the horror, but neither seemed necessary.
At that thought, Leonard felt certain that Raphael had done it. After all, no one could make sense of a lunatic's thoughts.
He told Ryan, who stood beside him, "He should have already left-never mind, I'll go with you."
He figured Raphael had left immediately after finishing his acting.
But then he remembered that the fellow had killed official Beyonders before, so Leonard decided to go and take a look himself.
After arriving at the hospital, Leonard glanced around the morgue, then pointed at a box used to hold corpses. "He was lying in there earlier, controlling those two corpses. Hmm, fortunately, you didn't act rashly. If you'd fired at the time, he might have attacked you."
The two Nighthawks team members exchanged a glance. In that case, they owed Doctor Vincent their thanks.
Only after confirming that Raphael had left did Leonard take a carriage back.
