Leonard showed no sign of panic as he faced the ghosts' eerie green eyes.

His eyes suddenly grew deep, and invisible ripples spread outward. The ghosts surrounding him seemed to freeze for a moment, then apparently forgot what had just happened and continued on their way to reinforce the front lines.

As a Spirit Warlock, Leonard had plenty of ways to deal with ghosts like these.

Ordinary ghosts posed little danger, provided there were only one or a few of them.

With so many ghosts inside this fortress, however, any living person who appeared here would have their Spirit Body affected by the ghosts and join them in a daze.

Neither Raphael nor Leonard feared such an environment. The Sleepless pathway's Sequence 5, Spirit Warlock, was highly effective against undead creatures, while Raphael himself looked like one.

The two reached a broad corridor and saw the ghosts attending to their respective duties. Some kept forming ranks and marching off to provide reinforcements, while others handled logistical work such as organizing armor and weapons.

They all floated a dozen or so centimeters above the ground. They looked as though they were running, but were actually drifting.

Quite a few corpses lay on the corridor floor. They were all severely decomposed, and Raphael's zombies crushed their bones underfoot.

At first, Raphael worried that the ghosts might notice their bodies being trampled, but he soon realized that they were wholly absorbed in preparing for battle and had no attention to spare for their own remains.

After following the corridor for a while, they finally reached a narrower passage. Perhaps because it was not a main thoroughfare, there were no ghosts here.

Farther ahead, they found rows of barracks. Many corpses lay inside, and the everyday items there had long since rotted beyond recognition.
