After Raphael dealt with the monster Miss S had become, he was surprised to discover that it had not formed a Sealed Artifact, but had instead released a Beyonder characteristic.
In the end, all that remained of the monster was a skin and a puddle of flesh and blood, which seemed to have come from the earlier Copper Corpse.
Did that mean Miss S's own flesh and blood had vanished, leaving only her skin? Or was this a change caused by her transformation into a monster?
Raphael noticed that part of the skin was rolled up. He had a Zombie unfold it, revealing an old-fashioned notebook inside.
He knew perfectly well that Miss S had not brought the notebook that provided their clues down here, so she must have found this one in the ruins.
Even after becoming a monster, she had used what remained of her consciousness to protect this notebook. Clearly, she had discovered something important in it.
Raphael then put away the Beyonder characteristic and looked at Leonard. The man had suddenly adopted a defensive stance a moment earlier, only to relax again soon afterward.
Sensing Raphael's gaze, Leonard said, "There might be a high-level evil spirit of the Sleepless pathway beneath this floor. I almost entered a dream just now."
In fact, he had already been dragged into a dream without noticing, but before he could do anything stupid, Old Man's cough had "woken" him.
Leonard suspected that, since he had entered the dream without detecting anything at all, the spirit had to be at least Sequence 5.
Raphael smiled. "Wonderful! The time has come to demonstrate the righteousness of official Beyonders. Go destroy it! I'll be leaving first."
His task was already complete. There was no need to take any more risks.
