At that time, the six gods had finished dividing the spoils of victory from the War of the Four Emperors, and the four great nations of the present day had been established one after another.
Venn had come from a noble family in the Loen Kingdom. His family had belonged to the nobility of the Trunsoest Empire during the War of the Four Emperors before later pledging allegiance to the Loen Kingdom.
Even nobles had not been spared in this catastrophe. Venn's family held a fief south of Backlund and had been almost entirely wiped out in the war.
In particular, when Venn had seen his wife and children among the Undead Army, the nobleman had nearly lost control.
The notebook then gave a rough account of the battles to defend Backlund against the Undead Army. Even with the entire population mobilized, the fighting had been agonizingly difficult.
Raphael could feel Venn's despair between the lines. Perhaps dying in the fortress had been a release for him.

Before that agreement, the armed forces of the Northern Continent had suffered one defeat and retreat after another.
After Venn, the notebook's owner, had died, Backlund had still fallen. The Loen Royal Family had reestablished its court on the southern shore of the Sonia Sea and continued rallying people to resist.
Throughout that entire retreat, the people of the Northern Continent had lived in despair.
