This time, Sophia made a genuine effort to give Raphael as much pleasure as possible. One reason was that Raphael really was special. Being with him
gave her no emotional burden at all, because his moral standards were far lower than hers.
Sophia was more than willing to sincerely return the favor, and she got to savor pleasure herself as well. It had been a long time since she had enjoyed that sensation.
Although her job was to entertain those "members of high society," she usually just went through the motions, draining their strength in no time. This time, however, Sophia tended to him with care until Raphael reached a true climax.
Her other objective, of course, was to question him or coax information out of him after he had experienced the ultimate pleasure, when his psychological defenses were weakest: why he had rescued her, which Beyonder organization he belonged to, and so on.
It proved easier than Sophia had expected. Once their pleasurable experience was over, Raphael began explaining why he had rescued her.
Alongside her delight, Sophia felt something strange, as though she had lost something precious.
But as soon as that thought arose, she shook her head, afraid to pursue it. She simply did not dare develop feelings.
Raphael sighed. "Staying alive is so hard.
"Ordinary people have their hardships, and Beyonders have their own troubles."
He hardly needed to act now, because Sophia had already immersed herself in the role.
After a pause, Raphael continued, "Unaffiliated Beyonders constantly have to battle madness and the loss of control. One moment of carelessness can leave them in a terrible state.
"We belong to Beyonder organizations and have acquired some methods for resisting the loss of control. Our Sequences aren't that high, either, so we don't worry too much
