The sudden voice startled George III.

He thought he was hearing things and hurriedly gathered his thoughts, concentrating on his advancement.

George III had already drunk the Black Emperor potion. The period that followed was crucial to him.

"Are you deaf?" the voice asked. "Since you're deaf, try this-"

A cacophony immediately rang in George III's ears. "When will the war end?"

"My child, I didn't even get to see you one last time."

"I heard there's been trouble with Conston's defensive line."

"Heh, keep fighting. The more you fight, the more gold pounds I make."

The points of light serving as George III's anchors flickered, constantly emitting a clamor of voices. His already illusory body began flickering along with them.

He hurriedly tried to stabilize his condition and asked, "Who are you?"

It was, of course, Raphael, standing before an abstract door in the Nation of Disorder. He smiled. "I'm a devil eager to better myself. I came to chat and learn a thing or two."

Tormented by the clamoring voices, George III trembled slightly. "You've made a mistake. I'm the King of Loen."

At the same time, he was checking where things had gone wrong.

His subjects were all his anchors, but under normal circumstances, those anchors should have been quiet. How was that voice controlling them?

Raphael smiled. "Look how stingy you are. Fine, keep it to yourself."

George III's illusory body suddenly began swaying. Something seemed to have gone wrong with his transformation into the Shadow of Order.

He hurriedly said, "I'm a high-ranking devil!"

"I knew I had the right person," Raphael said.

"The main reason I could become a high-ranking devil was that I was born suited to it," George III said earnestly. "From birth, I could wield power that determined other people's fates.
