Miss Hall's praise

When Raphael first transmigrated, he had been rather bewildered. Both his memories from before his transmigration and the knowledge he had gained afterward contained many gaps.

For instance, among the concepts in the knowledge he had acquired, there seemed to be another level above a "true god," but he simply could not remember what that level was.

In everyday life, he had also noticed a few intriguing things.

For example, Emperor Roselle's Diary was written in simplified Chinese, and some of the famous sayings left behind by this former ruler of the Intis Republic had a distinctly Eastern flavor.

This made Raphael seriously wonder whether there might be multiple transmigrators in this world.

He even wondered whether this was a survivor game, with those transmigrators being players who had entered it.

But whether it was a game or not, Raphael had quickly adjusted his mindset and decided that he should advance as soon as possible.

As a minor gang leader, he frequently came into contact with people at the bottom of society. He knew just how weak and miserable ordinary people in this world were.

He could advance to Sequence 6, or even Sequence 5, before seeking out other transmigrators. There was no rush.

At this moment, Raphael, who was preparing to kidnap Miss Audrey Hall on Townsend Street, appeared perfectly calm, but inwardly, he was already somewhat at a loss.

He had no idea which Mid-Sequence Beyonder his actions had offended, nor did he know what purpose the other party had had in speaking to him earlier.

But soon, a voice inside Raphael rebuked him: With all this hesitation, can you even call yourself a proper lunatic?

Raphael lightly slapped his thigh. Right! I'm a goddamn lunatic. Why think so much? Just do it!

And so, he smiled at the empty air. "Ms. Susie, was it?"

A cold female voice sounded beside him. "Yes."

Raphael continued, "What would you like for dinner?"

Several seconds passed before Susie asked in a puzzled voice, "Why are you asking?"

"It suddenly occurred to me that I'd normally be preparing dinner around this time." As he spoke, Raphael smacked his lips, as though he had thought of something delicious.

Susie noticeably paused before thinking, Is that a normal thought to have? It's not as though I've never met a lunatic, but I've never met one this crazy!

Just then, Miss Hall's carriage drew up before him. Raphael gave a soft whistle, signaling his subordinate Carter.

Then he casually jumped down from the driver's seat and headed toward the alley ahead, as though looking for somewhere to relieve his bladder.

Just as he passed Miss Hall's carriage, he discreetly tossed out a green charm and uttered its incantation in Ancient Hermes: "Desire!"

He had obtained this charm through a trade at a Beyonder gathering. It could rob people or animals of their reason and immediately induce an intense appetite.

As the charm burst, invisible ripples spread through the surroundings. The horses pulling the carriage immediately whinnied and ran toward a large tree ahead. They suddenly felt ravenous and even wanted to eat the leaves on it.

The coachman was equally impatient, eager to hurry over and gnaw on the bark.

Raphael nimbly pulled open the door of the speeding carriage. Inside, Miss Audrey's personal maid, Annie, had already rummaged through a storage cabinet, found the snacks they carried with them, and begun wolfing them down.

The beautiful Miss Hall, however, had not been affected at all.

The young noblewoman possessed flawless, almost perfect features, jewel-like eyes, and golden hair. The innocent air of a young girl had yet to fade completely, but the charm of a mature woman had already begun to emerge.

Even Raphael, who had observed her from a distance many times, could not help staring blankly for a moment.

Then Raphael noticed that Miss Hall's immunity to the charm was actually very unusual. He also realized that she was not panicking in the slightest.

At that moment, Audrey decided to let Raphael abduct her so she could see exactly what he intended and whom he served.

Otherwise, given the gulf between their social standing, Audrey would never have a chance to observe Raphael personally.

After all, this was a task Mr. Fool considered important, and she did not quite trust anyone else to investigate it.

As for the consequences of being kidnapped, Audrey was not worried. She trusted that her father would handle the matter properly.

Audrey secretly used Hypnosis on Raphael, making him overlook the fact that she was neither frightened nor affected by the charm.

As far as Raphael was concerned, he had no time to worry about any of that now. He flashed a slightly deranged smile. "Miss Hall, let's take a spur-of-the-moment trip."

Without waiting for her reply, Raphael reached out and grabbed Miss Hall's arm.

Once again, under Audrey's Hypnosis, she followed Raphael and jumped into the hired carriage of her own accord.

Raphael, however, believed that he had dragged her out of her seat, hoisted the young noblewoman onto his shoulder inside her spacious carriage, and timed his leap into the hired carriage he had prepared.

Once Raphael and Miss Hall were inside, he immediately shut the door and whistled again.

Carter, who had already taken the driver's seat, flicked the reins. "Hyah!"

The two horses snorted, lifted their hooves, and moved forward.

A few pedestrians noticed that something seemed amiss with the two carriages, but none dared to interfere.

Raphael sat opposite Miss Hall. "I knew a young lady from a noble family would have something special about her. For instance, you haven't made any unnecessary attempts to struggle, even in a situation like this.

"If you were a young lady from an ordinary family, I'd probably have to gag you with the coarse cloth I prepared earlier and tell you that nobody would come to save you even if you screamed yourself hoarse."

There was little expression on Miss Hall's beautiful face. She looked perfectly calm. "I'm curious. Don't you know that official Beyonders exist? How long do you think you can stay on the run?"

"Aha, that's another special thing about a young noblewoman." Raphael smiled. "You know a great deal about the supernatural."

He paused, then answered, "How should I put it? I have extremely powerful anti-divination abilities. Ordinary official Beyonders can't find me at all."

"Anti-divination?" Audrey furrowed her lovely brows. Wasn't that an ability one only acquired at Sequence 7, Werewolf?

She said, "Official Beyonders also possess plenty of Sealed Artifacts with extraordinary abilities. Are you really so confident they won't find you?"

"Not quite." Raphael grinned. "I gave my subordinate who's driving a large sum of money so he could make arrangements for his family. I'm also carrying all my cash. The moment anything seems wrong, I'll run.

"Of course, if the official Beyonders send a demigod right from the start, I'm dead for certain.

"If it really comes to that, all I can do is burn away every last shred of my sanity and threaten your life to look for a chance to escape, though the odds aren't good."

Audrey smiled and remarked in a decidedly unladylike manner, "What a lunatic!"

Raphael bowed slightly, like a gentleman. "Thank you for the compliment."

Audrey froze. Was anything I just said supposed to be a compliment?
