Raphael finished his conversation with the Oldest One's consciousness and began using his spirituality to examine the abilities he had just gained.
A Wraith's core ability was Wraith Possession.
Raphael had seen Maric use this ability more than once. It involved possessing a target, then injuring oneself to inflict damage on them.
To understand how to use this ability in combat, he first had to consider a Wraith's forms. After advancing, Raphael possessed two forms: his normal human form and a shadow-like Wraith Form.
In Wraith Form, he could freely enter and leave the Spirit World, hide there for extended periods, and observe the real world.
Raphael tried it out. Viewed from the Spirit World, people and objects in the real world looked somewhat blurry and distorted, and voices sounded a little warped. His intuitive impressions, however, were absolutely accurate-whether a target was dangerous, whether the person they were waiting for would pose a danger to him, and so on.
Overall, this was an extremely discreet way to observe a target. Those at Sequence 5 or below could not detect a Wraith watching them. Only when the Wraith was about to attack would the target sense something.
Even his "normal human" form was now completely different from an ordinary physical body. No physical attack could harm Raphael anymore, and even severe damage to his brain would not threaten his life.
Raphael felt that Beyonders of the Prisoner Pathway seemed to be straying further and further from the usual notion of "high defense." Previously, he had possessed skin like steel, which still counted as high defense in the conventional sense.
Now, Raphael's skin had not become any tougher, but no amount of physical punishment could do anything to him.
Those were a Wraith's two forms. With that established, Wraith Possession was
