After Raphael combined his "Wraith" and "Devil" forms, he gained two "composite abilities" for the first time.
The first ability was "Damage Reflection." Raphael could choose to "reflect" one of the abilities a target used to attack him, but he could only use it twice a day. Once he fully digested the potions of both pathways, that would increase to three times.
Raphael found this ability rather novel. He did not remember Beyonders of either the "Prisoner" or "Criminal" pathway possessing it individually.
If he had to compare it to something, it somewhat resembled an ability available only to a Sequence 3 "Silent Disciple" of the "Prisoner" pathway. At that sequence, once they established a connection with a target, they could inflict the same injuries on the target by harming themselves. Crucially, their own injuries would be transferred entirely to the target, leaving the "Silent Disciple" completely unharmed.
Still, that ability only bore a passing resemblance to "Damage Reflection."
Raphael named the second ability "Venomous Flame Scorch." The damage it inflicted was not enough to kill, but it subjected the target to excruciating torment, as though their spirit body, spiritual form, and physical body were all being roasted over flames at once.
In combat, this ability could rob a target of the ability to move or react for one to three seconds. Even after those three seconds, the "scorching" would continue for another dozen seconds or so.
During those dozen seconds, the target would remain in intense pain, with dulled reactions and slowed movements.
For interrogation, Raphael thought it might be even more useful than "Spirit Channeling." The burning of the mind and spiritual form in particular inflicted a pain that drove its victim to hysteria.
Raphael had not expected to gain such "composite abilities."
