At the ball, Viscount Tuo'er, a Sequence 5, suddenly sensed danger through his spirituality.
He looked toward the ballroom entrance, where a figure nearly three meters tall had suddenly appeared. Two curved goat horns rose from his head, and a pair of bat wings covered in countless mysterious patterns sprouted from his back. His enormous wings spread wide, wreathed in crimson flames tinged with pale blue.
A Devil?
Viscount Tuo'er smiled faintly. This Devil had a death wish.
Quite a few of the guests attending the gathering were Beyonders, including several Sequence 5s and Sequence 6s. What else could a Sequence 6 Devil appearing openly before them be doing but courting death?
But before Viscount Tuo'er could set down his wineglass and kill the Devil, his consciousness suddenly grew hazy.
It felt as though only an instant had passed, yet also as though a long time had gone by. Viscount Tuo'er gradually regained consciousness, dizzy and disoriented, as if someone had struck him with a heavy hammer.
All around him, he heard mindless howling and objects falling to the floor.
Then he felt something slick on his face. It was deeply uncomfortable.
Viscount Tuo'er wiped his face and glanced at his hand. The slippery substance was white and red, like-like brain matter-
He was not mistaken. It really was brain matter. The head Raphael had thrown earlier had struck Viscount Tuo'er.
The force had been so great that the head had shattered on impact.
Viscount Tuo'er's own head was bleeding as well. Only the unusually tough bones and muscles of a Sequence 5 had kept his skull from splitting open in that "collision."
Fortunately, Viscount Tuo'er had experienced a few Beyonder battles. Suppressing his nausea, he wiped his face again and located the Devil.
