Dewinter had deliberately chosen MI9's Beyonder interrogation room as the place to sign the contract.

Raphael surveyed the impressive array of torture instruments around him. Some were inlaid with materials imbued with spirituality, while others were covered in Beyonder symbols. A faint flow of spirituality emanated from every instrument.

The room had only one small window. Opposite it stood an iron chair covered in dried blood, lending the dim room an oppressive atmosphere.

Standing behind Raphael, Dewinter smiled. "Ordinary interrogation methods aren't particularly effective against Beyonders, so we invented these Beyonder torture instruments."

He pointed them out one by one. "That one opens up the abdomen. It can even cut through a Zombie's belly, then hold it open so we can work on the soft internal organs.

"That one crushes bones. Unlike other hammers, it pulverizes them little by little.

"It doesn't just hurt while we're hammering. It hurts when the bones grow back, too. If they grow crooked through a moment's carelessness, we have to break them and let them grow again.

"That one-"

Raphael finished for him. "That must be for opening skulls."

He paused, then continued, "I once had the privilege of touching my own brain. Honestly, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Anyone without much mental fortitude would tell you everything you asked right there and then."

Raphael then pointed to the two rows of medicine bottles on a table in the corner. "Those should be drugs for Spirit Channeling, along with some for destroying the mental body or spirit body, right? These are all good things."

Dewinter smiled. None of these torture instruments had frightened Raphael. Of course, it would have been strange if they had.
