Colin, Derrick, and the others from the City of Silver had actually traded blows with the enormous stone statues lining the road, while Raphael had used his Marionette powers to control the statues and make them fight one another.
This had only been possible because the statues were all inanimate objects to begin with.
Or rather, they had spent so long in the Giant King's Court that they had accumulated abundant spirituality. With a little outside stimulus, they could "come alive" and fight intruders.
Since no specific power was controlling them, Raphael had easily seized control with his Marionette powers, without even injecting much spirituality into them.
After dealing with these giant stone statues, they arrived at the foot of a long flight of stairs leading upward.
Following a brief rest, everyone climbed the stairs. When they reached roughly the middle, two figures flew out of the Giant King's palace.
One had shadows covering his face and shoulder-length black hair. The other was a pure shadow that occasionally twisted from side to side.
They were Enuni and the shadow that had originally belonged to Klein, both transformed by the Dark Angel's influence.
Enuni had once been Klein's marionette. Klein had just sent him ahead to scout, only for him to betray Klein under the Dark Angel's influence.
Klein raised a hand to cover the left side of his face and laughed at the shadow and Enuni. "Looks like you can't leave this area. What a shame. Now you can't hit me."
Raphael glanced at Klein. "What a waste of a promising Hunter."
Bang!
Provoked by Klein's taunt, the shadow opened his mouth and fired an Air Cannon shell at him.
Klein had anticipated it. He abruptly leaned backward, flipped through the air, and landed steadily several steps away.
Raphael turned
