This was clearly just a body, and the body of an avatar at that, yet it still possessed a tangible sense of substance.
The others, unaware of this fellow's true nature, found nothing particularly remarkable about it.
But Raphael, who knew the truth about the Dark Angel, found the sensation utterly wondrous.
Apart from Lovia, who felt the oppressive presence of a higher being, none of the others experienced any discomfort.
Klein suddenly laughed. "He's still asleep. Should we wake him directly, or wait for him to wake up on his own?
"If we wake him, how should we greet him? Hi, Your Highness the Dark Angel? Leader of Rose Redemption?"
"Pull yourself together," Raphael said with a sigh. "Now isn't the time to go mad. At least when I go mad, I know when to do it. When you go mad, you're genuinely mad."
"I can't help it." Klein smiled. "You dealt too severe a blow to the other half of my spirit body earlier. Until I fully recover, I have to remain in my Clown state."
"Oh," Raphael said. "Luckily, my current condition is relatively stable. Otherwise, the two of us would definitely-"
He abruptly stopped there.
"Definitely what?" Klein pressed.
Raphael had been about to say, "Definitely perform a comedy double act here." Perhaps they would even ask the Dark Angel to judge their performance.
But he couldn't find a word for that kind of double act in either Jotun or Loenese. He abruptly came to his senses: if he actually said the Chinese term aloud, he would expose himself.
Raphael waved a hand. "Nothing. Let's get closer and see if there are any clues."
The five of them carefully ascended. When
