At the Tarot Club meeting.
After hearing Mr. Devil's statement, everyone turned to look at him.
Devil Raphael smiled. "Yes, this is a scam, and I planned it."
When he had called himself Mr. Buffett, he had never intended to hide this matter from the Tarot Club members.
That was because this scam was all too familiar to Fool Klein. During the Common Era, far too many people had fallen for it, and many had lost everything.
Once the scam was exposed, Klein's first thought would be: A transmigrator must have done this.
Raphael also knew full well that some of his previous words and actions had already revealed to Klein that he was a transmigrator. Klein would certainly conclude that Raphael was responsible.
So he might as well bring it up early. That would also create the illusion that Devil was honest and reliable and treated everyone as one of his own.
Justice Audrey was the first to ask, "Mr. Devil, why did you plan a scam like this?"
"Because I really need money right now," Raphael said. "In the Forsaken Land of the Gods, there's a city that worships the Lord of Evil Desires. The entrance to the Forsaken Land of the Gods has now been opened, and my current task is to help them integrate into the normal world.
"The city has a population of nearly ten thousand. I'll need to provide enough supplies for them in the early stages, as well as help them build a city and a railway. Everything costs money.
"And I don't have that much money, so I can only go to the wealthy and the nobles to 'borrow' some."
Fool Klein remained outwardly calm, but inwardly he said, *Calling that 'borrowing' is really stretching it. You might as well call it
