The arrival of the King of Immortality brought a new development to the melee between the four Saints-or rather, brought the struggle for the Abyss Entrance to its climax.
Raphael noticed that the King of Immortality had struck just after the Saint from the Nois Family launched a sneak attack on the Saint from the Beria Family. His decision to follow up with an attack was actually crucial.
Had the King of Immortality not joined the attack, the other Saint from the Nois Family and the Saint from the Andariel family might have chosen to watch, or supported one side and formed new pairs of allies. But they almost certainly would not have ganged up on anyone.
The reason was simple: a Devil would never let another Devil succeed.
Their nature as Devils had thus trapped them in a deadlocked melee, constantly changing allies as they fought two against two.
The King of Immortality's arrival, however, broke that stalemate, because it could easily turn into a three-against-two fight, leaving one side at a disadvantage.
So when the King of Immortality chose to help the Nois Family's Saint attack the Beria Family's Saint, the other two Saints quickly joined them.
Since the situation had changed, they might as well eliminate someone first. As long as they were not the ones being eliminated, that was fine.
Under the combined attacks of the other four Saints, the Beria Family's Saint was soon injured and fled in disarray.
Raphael naturally had no intention of letting him escape. Glancing at the battle, which had fallen into another stalemate, he quietly followed. Once they were far enough away, he easily finished off the Demon.
When Raphael returned to the vicinity of the Abyss Entrance, he discovered another major change: the "other Saint from the Nois Family"
