At 9:50 a.m., Raphael returned to the area where he had fought Petrov, the Conspirer.
He watched the restaurant entrance and waited in silence.
He had previously arranged to meet the young female Judge at the entrance to that restaurant.
A few minutes later, Raphael saw the girl with the slightly chubby cheeks-Xio-hurry out of an alley and wave to him.
Raphael hesitated, glancing at the carriages occasionally passing along the road and the pedestrians coming and going.
Their battle had taken place at night, when hardly anyone had been on the street. Now it was daytime, and with so many people around, this was hardly a suitable place to divide the spoils.
Looking thoroughly wary, Raphael followed the girl into the alley. At the first sign of anything wrong, he would leave immediately.
Once Xio, who was walking ahead, reached a quieter spot, she turned and took out a brown paper bag. "It sold for a total of 2,500 pounds. There are 1,600 pounds in here. I won't take a share of the money in the wallet."
Only then did Raphael breathe a sigh of relief. He took the bag and gave its contents a quick look. He did not particularly mind her taking an extra 100 pounds; after all, the Beyonder characteristic had been sold through her contacts.
Raphael thanked her and turned to leave.
But Xio stopped him. "Wait. There's something else I'd like to discuss with you."
Raphael paused briefly. "Go ahead."
Xio smiled and said, half truthfully, "You said before that you worked for the police, but I couldn't find any information about you.
Raphael brushed this off. "I'm just an ordinary informant. It's perfectly normal that you couldn't find anything on me."
Inwardly, however, he was surprised. This girl can actually access police records!
