To Raphael, Zombies were easy to distinguish from normal people. Aside from their pale faces, their skin looked as though it had been coated with white wax.
And a Sequence 6 Beyonder, a "Living Corpse," differed from the Living Corpses he created. The biggest difference lay in their eyes.
Although "Living Corpses" also looked like dead people, their eyes retained a little vitality, whereas the Zombies they created had the classic eyes of a dead fish.
Upon spotting the Zombies in the crowd, Raphael immediately realized they were after him.
As for who controlled those Living Corpses, that was not hard to guess.
It had to be either the Indulgence Faction or the Temperance Faction. Raphael felt that an unaffiliated Beyonder who did not know the Acting Method would have a hard time reaching the Living Corpse stage.
Raphael did not think he had any grievances with the Temperance Faction. More importantly, if Maric wanted to find him, he would not do it this way.
So even a simple process of elimination was enough to determine that these Living Corpses were probably controlled by someone from the Indulgence Faction.
Since it was the Indulgence Faction, these Zombies were most likely waiting for Raphael, unless there happened to be a member of the Temperance Faction here as well.
Although he did not know why they were looking for him, Raphael knew he needed to act now. He stepped calmly out of the carriage and told the driver, "I'll take another street back."
The carriage belonged to the Mafia, and the driver was one of Raphael's subordinates.
With that, Raphael strode briskly toward an alley.
When the two Zombies in the crowd saw Raphael enter the alley, they hurried after him. Only when they reached its entrance did they discover that Raphael
