Background / History
Future Reinforcement Project
Lox originated in the 21st millennium and joined the Future Reinforcement Project, an effort intended to preserve humanity through an uncertain future. Before entering stasis, he heard the Alliance Science Division Chief warn that the Warp concealed a coming existential crisis for humanity. He awakened ten thousand years later determined to fulfill that mission. 1
Although a Perpetual, Lox initially regarded himself as otherwise ordinary. Unlike many rumored Perpetuals, he possessed no openly developed psychic ability and had little experience with supernatural threats. 6
Isstvan and Calth
After awakening, Lox became involved with survivors of the Isstvan V betrayal, including Raven Guard, Iron Hands, and Salamanders. He learned firsthand that conventional technology alone was inadequate against Warp entities when a daemon-possessed infiltrator nearly killed him; Nykona Sharokin intervened and helped drive the creature off. 6
At Calth, Lox attempted to warn the Ultramarines of the Word Bearers' impending betrayal, but Warp interference obstructed communications. He operated publicly as a mortal attendant beside the disguised Astartes, concealing his importance while directing their actions. 7 8
Mustafa and Pharos
Lox established a war base on Mustafa using nanobots to construct power, refining, and planetary-control infrastructure at exceptional speed. He used a Weather Control Device to decompose atmospheric toxins, create rainfall, and begin reshaping the planet into a habitable world. 42
His work at Mount Pharos revealed that the Pharos system was a Necron-origin communication, navigation, and teleportation network capable of bypassing Warp storms. He and Barabas Dantioch investigated its blackstone requirements and sought an alternative to the Hypercube Labyrinth energy component. 113 129 130
High Technology Commonwealth
Lox consolidated recovered human, Necron, Aeldari, blackstone, and other relic technologies into a broader technological program. With the Emperor's authorization, he proposed renewed artificial-intelligence research and positioned himself as a possible unifier of the fragmented Adeptus Mechanicus. 390
The Emperor placed the Authority of the Omnissiah within Lox's soul, granting him an unprecedented affinity with machines. He subsequently organized Io's Mechanicus forces and led the Iron Legion and thousands of Mechanicus warships toward the Beta-Garmon campaign. 474
Multiversal Expansion
Lox used the Dimension Engine to open access to parallel universes, directing expeditions to observe and later expand into them. In the X-Men universe, he recruited and trained mutants, researched the X-Gene, and incorporated its potential into the Space Marine Enhancement Plan. 708 669 693
After returning to the Warhammer universe, he brought back technologies including Space Bridges, X-Gene applications, Dimension Engines, Cybertronian technology, and research derived from the AllSpark. 740 752
The Void Dragon
Lox entered the Eternal Night Labyrinth and fought the weakened Void Dragon, Mag'ladroth. He overcame the C'tan through a battle of will, absorbed its scattered energy, purged its consciousness, and retained its power source. 922 923
Despite the reverence this victory inspired among the Adeptus Mechanicus, Lox rejected becoming a god or accepting the title of Omnissiah as a claim of superiority. 923
Personality
Lox is defined by a long-term commitment to humanity's survival. He is largely indifferent to personal honor and views both hostile xenos and humans who submit to the Warp as threats to humanity's future. 10
He favors rational planning, technological progress, and self-reliance over faith. His distrust of the Warp extends to humanity's dependence on it; he considers freedom from Warp influence essential to solving humanity's underlying crisis. 132
Although capable of extreme pragmatism—including ordering the extermination of a newly discovered alien civilization before it could become a future threat—Lox prefers cooperation when it is viable. In the X-Men universe, he chose to win mutants through protection, opportunity, and shared purpose rather than immediate coercion. 223 669
Lox is resistant to worship and divinity. He recognizes the practical strength generated by belief, but remembers the Emperor's warning about faith's dangers and insists on remaining human despite his growing power. 474 923
Abilities & Skills
Perpetual Physiology
Lox is a Perpetual, granting him an exceptionally prolonged existence.
- Awakened after ten thousand years in stasis. 1
- Initially lacked the overt psychic gifts associated with many other Perpetuals. 6
- His weak psychic potential had been sealed by Neos to protect the Future Reinforcement Project from interference. 474
- He was initially vulnerable to daemonic threats and relied on Astartes protection during his first direct encounter with a Warp entity. 6
Technological Genius
Lox is an engineer, analyst, and systems designer with access to extensive pre-Imperial and recovered technological knowledge.
- Designed custom communications devices able to maintain star-system communications through heavy interference. 7
- Constructed a planet-wide Pharos analysis array and identified the device as Necron-origin technology. 113
- Designed advanced power armor using adamantium, antimatter furnaces, Strong Interaction Material, anti-gravity engines, and atmospheric jetpacks. 44
- Developed military infrastructure, weather-control systems, combat automatons, Space Marine enhancement technologies, and dimensional-travel systems. 42 432 693 708
- Maintains a broad technology tree compiled from ancient human records and recovered xenos technologies. 390
Limitations
- Adamantium armor production is difficult to scale because of material scarcity and manufacturing demands. 45
- Pharos requires blackstone and immense specialized energy, including a replacement for the Hypercube Labyrinth's energy role. 129 130
Omnissiah's Authority
The Authority of the Omnissiah within Lox's soul gives him a psychic-mechanical connection to machines and artificial intelligences.
- Can control and optimize Io's machinery beyond its intended design limits. 474
- Can coordinate the gravity systems of thousands of warships simultaneously. 487
- Can awaken or communicate with otherwise unresponsive Machine Spirits, including the ancient warship Infinite Loyalty. 500 501
- Can manipulate force fields, gravity, and magnetism, and deploy psychic shielding against Warp energy. 497 501
- Used blackstone-based defenses to resist Chaos Junk Code and Warp corruption. 497
- His full release of this power could eradicate corruption, but risks transforming him into a divine being. 497
Psychic Combat
Lox's psychic capability developed substantially after receiving the Omnissiah's Authority.
- Uses psychic lightning in combat. 658
- Can sense distant battle activity through background radiation and interpret combat data at extreme range. 487
- Resisted and invaded Mag'ladroth's consciousness, ultimately purging the Void Dragon's will without destroying its power source. 922 923
- His power is enhanced by his connection to machinery, blackstone technology, accumulated faith, and relic energies. 740 918
Projection and Teleportation
Lox can act through projections and exploits advanced teleportation systems for rapid deployment.
- Conducted negotiations with the White Scars while appearing in projection form. 160
- Used Pharos for faster-than-light travel independent of Warp jumps. 222
- Employs the Red Alert's teleportarium to insert personnel directly into hostile vessels and planetary locations. 7
- Long-distance Pharos travel can leave him temporarily disoriented. 222
Strategic Command
Lox is an accomplished organizer and strategist who combines technological superiority with political leverage.
- Directed Mustafa's industrialization and environmental reconstruction. 42
- Planned the expansion and re-equipment of Ultramar's mortal auxilia. 45
- Used Konrad Curze's staged capture and escape to infiltrate Magnus's forces through a “Bitterness Scheme.” 371
- Led Mechanicus fleets and the Iron Legion in support of Lion El'Jonson's campaigns. 474 487
- Organized mixed Astartes legions and Primaris upgrades using the Progenitor Template and X-Gene technology. 693
