With a swish, Yi Shuyuan, Qi Zhongbin, and Mai Lingfei appeared amid a wisp of mist in the little courtyard where Mai Lingfei had lived in seclusion.
The courtyard no longer looked as it had when Yi Shuyuan and the others left. The bench outside had been moved, the little table overturned, and the teapot and cups smashed across the ground. Both the front and rear doors stood wide open; someone had surely rummaged through the house as well.
A Fei could not help laughing at the sight.
"Looks like these old bones of mine escaped a calamity, eh?"
Hui Mian leaped down from Yi Shuyuan's shoulder, rushed into the kitchen for a look around, then stormed back out in fury.
"Those bastards ruined all the fresh fish we prepared!"
The stove area was a complete mess. The prepared fish had been smashed onto the ground along with the basin holding them. Before leaving, Hui Mian had cast a spell to keep the fish from spoiling during their brief absence, but it offered no protection against deliberate destruction.
Naturally, this had not been done by Ban Yuguang, who had obtained Awaiting Heaven's Rain, but by the people he had feared would track them here.
Evidently, however, both Ban Yuguang and the group that came afterward had found no one.

Hui Mian landed on A Fei's shoulder and sounded quite serious, leaving A Fei momentarily speechless before he laughed.
