The horn sounded again, long and solemn. Yan Shouyun could not help covering his ears, then opened his eyes and straightened up, finally enduring until the blast ended.
This Capital City really is noisy.
Thinking this, Yan Shouyun glanced to the side. Suddenly, his heart jolted slightly as he realized something was wrong.
He seemed to be lying behind a long platform, with a large sheet of yellow silk hanging overhead.
Where was the City God statue?
Not only had the City God statue vanished, but the Divine Altar was gone too. Or rather, the altar had changed, becoming somewhat taller and longer.
Yan Shouyun stood up, turned sideways, and looked up at the yellow silk. Some temples hung banners like this beneath their statues, but this one seemed a little different.
Wedged behind the platform, Yan Shouyun could not see it in full, but even the corner visible to him showed clouds, mountains, and rivers embroidered on the yellow silk, along with a dragon's claw-with five digits.
Then Yan Shouyun looked to either side. Even from behind the platform, he could see how enormous this "City God Hall" was. It felt even larger than it had last night.
What was that?
Yan Shouyun caught sight of some enormous objects in the distance: a huge set of chime bells.
Surely a City God Temple wouldn't have something like that?
Yan Shouyun was a sorcerer, after all. He could enter a city and tell fortunes, or enter a village and lodge in its temple. Almost at a glance, he recognized these as ritual instruments. Who would put such things in an ordinary temple?
Only, their grandeur seemed extraordinarily high.
