After hearing Mo Ye's account, Yi Shuyuan and Jiang Lang had yet to say anything when Hui Mian eagerly spoke up.
"In that case, sir, why don't we bask in Fellow Daoist Mo's reflected glory and use delivering the wedding gift together as an excuse to cadge a wedding feast?"
Weddings and funerals could sometimes be rather special, especially wedding feasts. There was some sense in people down on their luck going around cadging wedding wine to wash away their misfortune with joy, but to Hui Mian, the dishes at a wedding feast always had a special flavor.
"They're only preparing for the wedding, not holding the feast today. Mo Ye, just go deliver the gift, then ask for a couple of wedding sweets for Hui Mian. Besides, someone else entrusted you with delivering it. Wouldn't you be embarrassed to cadge a meal?"
Since Jiang Lang had spoken, Mo Ye glanced at Hui Mian, then at Yi Shuyuan. Seeing that neither objected, he answered, "Yes," and headed toward the gates of the Chu Residence.

Yi Shuyuan ignored Hui Mian and watched the gates of the Chu Residence. As Mo Ye approached, the servants were carrying in numerous tables and chairs. Even wealthy households could not keep their homes packed with such things; when a major occasion arose, they had to borrow some too.
"Come on, come on, move faster!" "Get a move on! The food will arrive soon, and we still need to prepare it!"
Several servants made trip after trip carrying things, while the steward supervised from nearby. When someone approached, he took a look. The visitor's pale blue, curved-hem robe seemed exceptionally fine, hardly the attire of an ordinary commoner.
