Ye'e Mannali knew that this order to kill without mercy was not merely directed at her subordinates. It was a threat to her as well.
She could only acknowledge it and carry out Fang Qianyuan's orders.
Her method was brutal and direct: she sent those infatuated with her to run errands. Some tried to argue, but she lashed them savagely with her leather whip, splitting their skin and flesh and making them scream and howl on the spot.
Strangely, however, they showed not the slightest resentment. Instead, as though terrified of angering her, they begged repeatedly for mercy, then dashed away like a wisp of smoke.
Over the next two hours or so, captives and slaves from all over the city arrived in succession. Quite a few yakshas even received orders from Ye'e Mannali to help organize and guide them.
These captives and slaves soon gathered outside the city, standing in a dense, dark mass.
Lin Zaixing went outside for a look, then said awkwardly, "Grand Elder Fang, this doesn't look good. There are far too many ordinary civilians among them. In our present circumstances, we can't rescue all of them at once."
Fang Qianyuan said, "Then select the cultivators and Jianghu Practitioners with martial skills, prioritizing humans and taking members of other races as a secondary consideration. Make arrangements for them first."
Lin Zaixing said, "That makes sense. I'll go select them."
Fang Qianyuan nodded. "Go."
Watching Lin Zaixing leave the great hall to select people, Ye'e Mannali asked cautiously, "Young Master Fang, are you planning to take our captives away?"
Fang Qianyuan glanced at her. "What, do you object?"
Ye'e Mannali lowered her head and said aggrievedly, "But I went to so much trouble to capture them from all those places..."
