"Elder Mu, what exactly is your Spirit Creature Office like?" Fang Qianyuan asked Mu Qing with some curiosity on the way to the Creature Rearing Office.
Mu Qing replied, "Grand Elder Fang, in terms of rank, our Spirit Creature Bureau is a division-courtyard-level hall under the Administrative Affairs Institute, but it is directly managed by the Elders' Council, so it counts as one of the sect's more important departments. Our Bureau has four branch halls: the Creature Rearing Office, the Creature Boarding Office, the Spirit Herding Office, and the Creature Selection and Breeding Office. Each has a chief steward who holds the title of elder. I am the division courtyard's main hall master, and I also serve as chief steward of the Creature Rearing Office."
"I see. I previously boarded spirit creatures for wilding. Was that handled at your Creature Boarding Office?"
"Indeed. All the spirit creatures in the Creature Boarding Office come from elders or disciples throughout the sect. The sect has separate provisions for supporting elders and true disciples, while ordinary Inner Court disciples pay the full cost themselves, with bills based on actual expenses."
"Oh? No wonder I never received a demand for payment back then."
"Yes. You are an elder whom the sect is making a priority of nurturing, and by regulation, you are entitled to a generous allowance. However, please forgive me for being unable to disclose the exact amount. Your accounts, along with those of all elders at Earth Rank and above, are managed directly by the Ascension Academy. We are only responsible for those below Earth Rank."
This was the sect's administrative system, and Fang Qianyuan offered no comment. Nor did he particularly care how large an allowance he could enjoy. All he needed to know was that it was more than sufficient.
