The crystal grove might have looked fairly extensive, but fewer than one in a hundred crystal pillars actually produced Magic Crystals. In other words, the grove, which now covered about a sixth of an acre, held no more than a handful of Magic Crystals.
Still, the crystal deposit was slowly growing. Over time, it would absorb energy on its own and produce Magic Crystals. Adding other unusual substances merely counted as fertilizing it, making it grow a little faster.
Outside, Doudou was even more impatient than Qin Xiaoxia, but he was afraid the crystal deposit would absorb him as "fertilizer," so he did not dare go in.
When Qin Xiaoxia emerged holding a beautiful crystal, Doudou knew he had succeeded.
"Hahahaha! Mine, mine, mine! Big Cousin! Is that Magic Crystal for me?!!!"
As though he had spotted the most irresistible toy imaginable, Doudou rushed over and hugged Qin Xiaoxia's thigh.

He jumped up several times to grab the crystal, but Qin Xiaoxia dodged him every time.
"Stop it. I can't give you this one yet. Besides, we don't have a gold mine right now. I'll get you another one in a bit."
"Then what are you going to do with this one?"
Doudou looked rather dejected, like someone whose candy had been snatched away, though at least Big Cousin had promised to give him one later.
Although this crystal was not for him, Doudou still figured out what Big Cousin intended to do with it and followed him like a little shadow, never leaving his side.
Before long, they reached the half-dead Tree Shepherd.
