Chapter 187: Someone with Connections
The place stretched as far as the eye could see and seemed enormous. Looking back, he saw no mirror surface at all, so there was naturally no chance of trying to smash his way out.
"We can't stay here. Luna, climb onto my shoulders."
Without waiting for the little girl to answer, Brown lifted her onto his shoulders, shouted, "Hold tight!" and pushed off, turning and charging backward with a bang.
There were no monsters in that direction, and it was opposite to the pull they had felt earlier.
There seemed to be some uneven terrain resembling a valley over there, which was better than exposing themselves on this wide-open plain.
He had no intention of taking on those things behind him one after another. Running was the best way to conserve his strength.
Luna clung tightly to Brown's forehead, lowering her head and squinting against the wind rushing into her face.
Everything within sight was dim, and that aura that made her so uneasy and uncomfortable was everywhere.
Brown's body was scorching hot, reddening the little girl's arms, but that warmth also reassured her.
"Hiss..."
A hissing roar came from overhead. Several monsters shaped like bats, but with long serpent tails, were approaching.
"Uncle, above us!"
Luna cried out, afraid Brown had not noticed the danger swooping down overhead.
Brown had already noticed the things in the sky. Those winged creatures looked extremely dangerous, and he had no desire to tangle with them.
He was fast, and the enormous Bat Serpent-Tail Monsters could not catch him at all. Their whipping tails, however, posed quite a threat.
But however fast he was, those things could fly, and they were faster. They flew back and forth overhead, harrying him, making Luna scream repeatedly and irritating Brown
