Chapter 205: Talking to a brick wall
It wasn't that Hama Pi couldn't think of a way to escape. He had at least a few reasonably workable methods he could try.
But what would he do once he got out? He knew neither the place nor its people. Was he supposed to live out in the wild?
He was a respectable merchant, not one of those Elves who ate raw flesh and drank blood-most of them, anyway-much less some filthy wild monster.
Besides, since he had stumbled into this strange new world, surely he ought to put his talents to use. Hama Pi prided himself on his outstanding business sense; other people simply failed to appreciate it.
Although he currently had no idea how to return to his own world and had no goods to sell, he could take his time figuring out the journey home. If that didn't work, he could settle down here. He had a whole crowd of enemies waiting back home anyway. As for merchandise, he could sell people on promises. Failing that, he could use his skills to make a few trinkets on the spot. As long as they were novel, who cared whether they were useful?
Thinking of it that way, Hama Pi no longer wanted to get out so soon. He would take a look around first.
The transport vehicle drove for several hours. Along the way, the escort soldiers and the dogs were given food and drinks once. Hama Pi alone received nothing to eat.
There wasn't a sound from the sealed cage, and no one dared open it even a crack to put anything inside. Besides, the soldiers figured the heavy dose of anesthetic should still be working. With that creature's tiny frame, he ought to sleep for a long time
