Chapter 246: Make sure to rope more people in
Splash! Splash! Smack!
Spray filled the air above the River as massive logs churned up wave after wave.
The reservists struck hard but with precise control. Instead of hitting people directly with the trunks, they usually slammed them into the water less than a meter away, using tremendous force to whip up high-pressure blasts of spray.
Most people could not endure more than two blasts of water pressure nearby. With the right angle, a single strike could affect several people at once.
Only Monkey, who normally bounded through the mountain forests, proved tough despite being unable to exert much strength in the water. That earned him a beating from two logs at once, and since he looked thick-skinned and sturdy, they simply struck him directly a couple of times.
Even diving to escape was useless. The moment anyone deliberately went underwater, a trunk would lash down hard at that exact spot. The first strike usually left them dazed, and another would have them floating to the surface shortly afterward. Even those who sank were fine. Their physical constitutions were monstrous: an ordinary person would drown in ten-odd minutes, but these people could still be revived after half an hour underwater.
Five minutes later.
A golden figure was flung from the water onto the bank, trailing countless droplets.
He slammed into a large tree on the bank with a thud, making the whole tree shake and sending several unripe fruits tumbling onto Monkey.
Looking across the ground, more than a hundred trainees from the current Advanced Training Camp lay in neat rows along the riverbank, including the twenty-odd people ambushed earlier.
"One hundred and twelve. They're all here."
Hook and a dozen others walked out of the water, step by step.
