Chapter 310: A sudden turn for the worse
Rumble, rumble...
Another mild tremor soon shook the observation station, clearly felt by everyone inside.
The alarms kept blaring.
Of the two Evolvers stationed at the outpost, the one who was awake rushed to the rooftop observation platform, while the one resting leaped out of bed and ran to his assigned position.
After a brief moment of shock, all the observers immediately dropped their unrelated tasks and took their stations. Ignoring the tremor, they began working rapidly at their computers.
Hundreds of sensors had been placed inside the Death Miasma Zone, monitoring everything from temperature and humidity to vibrations and radiation. They urgently needed to find out what had happened.
Before that, however, the Department for Research and Response to Supernatural Events personnel on duty had already sent an emergency message to headquarters.
"Temperature and humidity readings are normal."
"No problems in sectors A and B."
"Infrared monitoring is normal!"
"Wait, my real-time data feed has stopped updating!"
Fault alerts began sounding from the computers, one after another, as the database lost contact with the sensors in the field.
"We've lost contact with the sensors?"
"We can pinpoint the source of that tremor by elimination. None of the surrounding areas felt anything, so we can confirm that the source is inside the Miasma Zone."
"Activate visible-light monitoring. Turn on every light in the village!"
"What about the perimeter troops? Have them fire illumination flares inside!"
"If you can't reach them, follow the emergency protocol. Monitor every soldier's vital signs!"
