Chapter 366: Showing off gone wrong
Nax was not a true atheist, since he held a certain reverence for mysterious things, but he did not believe in any religion, either. He felt those religions could not possibly represent the gods behind them, and that those gods had been far too glorified and were riddled with contradictions.
To outsiders, Nax suffered from a certain degree of mental illness. Sometimes he simply thought too much and startled easily, but his powers of observation were astonishing.
As the saying went, only a fine line separated genius from madness. In his current state, Nax had already made something of a name for himself as a private detective.
Half a month earlier, a wealthy couple had hired him to investigate their daughter's boyfriend at school.
It was not a difficult case, and Nax handled it with ease. During the investigation, however, he suddenly noticed something amiss.
His powers of observation made him highly sensitive to changes around him.
Since his target often had sex with the wealthy couple's daughter in a corner of the school after classes, Nax frequently stayed until dark.
His clients had only asked him to investigate, not to stop them, so Nax felt that whatever they did was none of his business.
Nothing seemed unusual on his first day at the school gates, but over the following days, he noticed that fewer and fewer lights came on in the surrounding houses after dark.
