Chapter 367: Please notice me
Lilica kept sprinting. Luckily, she had worn pants and sneakers today. If she had worn a skirt and heels, she would have been dead.
She glanced back, only to find that the monster had not followed her at all.
Had it gone after that handsome guy instead?
But she had no time to swoon now. A beauty saving a hero sounded wonderful, but she had to know her limits. At most, she could get farther away and call the police.
It was so dark around her, though, and none of the houses had their lights on. Lilica did not dare retrace her steps. She could only keep running, then quietly take a few turns.
She found a corner beside a house and pulled out her phone to make a call, panting all the while.
"Squeak, squeak, squeak..."
The strange sound rose beside her, making Lilica freeze.
"Aaaah!"
With a scream, she took off running again, without the slightest intention of turning to look.
With a ripping sound, pain shot through Lilica's scalp as several strands of hair were torn out.
She looked back as she sprinted. The monster clearly had a human head, yet countless worms connected to its body spilled from its mouth, like a mass of disgusting, writhing tongues. Several of them had bitten down on a small tuft of her hair and were fighting over it.
If I'd been a step slower, would it have torn off my scalp?
Lilica's heart felt ready to burst. She kept stumbling onward, while the monster behind her came straight after her. It was absurdly fast, giving her the illusion that it was skating across the ground.
"Help!"
She could no longer worry about loud noises attracting monsters. One was already right on her heels.
"Die!"
