Chapter 473: All because of a glutton
"That depends on how many there are, and how much ammunition we have left!"
No sooner had Simon spoken than the shriveled skins swelled again. The warped substance around them kept gathering back together, and the monsters from before reappeared.
With ammunition running low, the soldiers dared not waste a single bullet. They switched from automatic fire to short bursts, but still could not hold back the approaching monsters.
Several Doolin Beasts could no longer suppress their fear as the threat drew closer. After a few roars, they charged outward.
Doolin Beasts looked plump and were hardly powerful creatures, but they were certainly strong. Even a hippopotamus on Earth possessed considerable strength, and Doolin Beasts far surpassed hippos in both speed and strength.
"Roar!"
Three Doolin Beasts lowered their heads and charged straight into the approaching things. The soldiers deliberately aimed their guns away from them.
Bang! Bang! Bang! ...
Like three armored vehicles made of flesh, they slammed into the eerie monsters with tremendous force, scattering every one in their path.
Just as bullets easily shattered them, these things, some of them quite large, could not withstand the Doolin Beasts' impact.
"Great! It works! We can follow them and charge out!"
A soldier who had just changed magazines pumped his fist at the sight.
The three Doolin Beasts were clearly no fools. After charging around once, they did not keep barreling outward, but immediately turned and ran back.
They kept crying, "Whoo, whoo..." It was impossible to tell whether they were excited, terrified, or both.
The entire trip took only a dozen seconds or so before the three Doolin Beasts returned to the human soldiers and their companions.
