On the outskirts of the Storm Boundary, the Akeniksen caravan trudged onward.
Even the Camel Beasts' extraordinary endurance was beginning to falter here.
The Akeniksen had taken out small, transparent devices and fed magic power into them, spreading a film-like layer of light over their own skin and that of their Camel Beasts.
Here, the stone and gravel on the ground were badly weathered, leaving little solid footing. Every step felt as though they were treading on loose sand.
Suddenly, a storm that should never have appeared in this region swept in from afar, reaching them in an instant and plunging the caravan into peril.

A seemingly solid rock beneath one Camel Beast's foot shattered under its weight. Its foot plunged through, and it immediately lost its balance.
