Chapter 527: They ate everything!
"Bzzzz, bzzzz..."
The noise grew louder and louder, and a sense of agitation and oppressive fear spread through the air.
Thanks to his crystal accessory, Dokler came to his senses fairly early. He looked at the dazed people around him, with no time to dwell on the rumors of that curse.
"Hide!!! Hurry and hide!!! Don't just stand there!!! Get inside, get into the cellars!! Shut the doors and windows!!!"
Dokler shouted at the top of his lungs.
The people beside him snapped out of their daze and joined Dokler in shouting to everyone around them. Old Muderlin yelled as he frantically dragged his son and the rest of his family inside. Of course, he did not forget his wealthy patron, Dokler.
With everyone's hair standing on end, a succession of doors slammed and locks clicked throughout the village amid the buzzing.
At old Muderlin's house, everyone retreated indoors. Including Dokler and his two guards, along with Muderlin's wife, sons, and daughter, there were eight people in all.
"Quick, bring the table over, and the wooden hoe! Brace all the doors and windows!"
"Come on, together!"
Dokler stayed where he was, watching them scramble to move things. He imagined the same scene was playing out in the other houses as he examined every detail of the room.
Built to keep out the cold, the house was fairly well sealed, with all sorts of gaps stuffed shut. But above the stove was a clay-and-wood smoke vent shaped like an upside-down funnel.
"They can get in through that chimney! That chimney!! Let's go into the back room, the back room!!"
Dokler shuddered at the sight of the chimney and hurriedly shouted a warning. Everyone hastily reinforced the front door and the other openings, then rushed into one
