Chapter 652: A brave heart
Now that he had woken up, Riva had strapped the Broadsword onto his back again and secured the weapons at his waist.
Looking at his current outfit, surely anyone would take him for a mysterious powerhouse?
If he left now, these people would truly have no one to rely on. They could never outrun the Giant Monsters themselves. Being abandoned like that meant waiting to die, and Riva knew that feeling all too well.
They all believed he was a wandering ranger, a powerful warrior of noble character. Even though Riva knew he was neither, that did not stop him from enjoying the feeling.
"Riva... you're not thinking of trying to fight the Giant Monsters, are you?"
Youyi stared at him in disbelief. Wasn't that just asking to die?
"I can't handle Giant Monsters!!"
"I know. I'm not stupid enough to think I can really take on a Giant Monster, let alone four. But at least I can buy some time."
The people nearby heard Riva's quiet reply as well. He turned to face the dozen or so refugees.
"You all heard me. I'll draw the Giant Monsters' attention and buy you some time. Run as hard as you can, as far as you can. Whether we survive will come down to luck."
Riva did not merely say it; he intended to do it. He knew he was not particularly brave, so to keep himself from backing out, he stood straight up and ran toward the Giant Monsters.
"Hey!!! Hey!! Riva!!!"
Youyi was both furious and frantic. The first time you saw a Giant Monster, you could barely even stand!!

Youyi threw caution aside. He was her only friend!
She sprang out after him, then turned back and shouted at the stunned refugees.
