Chapter 663: A plan and a fable
After Gurian finished analyzing the key points of the battle, the group of fewer than thirty immediately set off, moving through the mountains at full speed.
Aside from scouts and other reconnaissance units, the Savage Beastmen army traveled almost entirely on foot. These mountain trails were unsuitable for pack beasts, either, so Riva and his companions held an absolute advantage in speed. After all, fewer people meant fewer complications, with less need to worry about making camp and eating.
The hard part was reaching Gulot Dam and choosing the right moment to destroy it, unleashing a terrifying torrent that would ideally sweep away and drown the Savage Beastmen army.
The daylight began to fade. Darkness fell quickly in these densely forested mountains. The twenty-odd members of the group all had extensive experience moving through mountain forests, far more than the people Riva had led in search of Star back then. Every so often, Qin Xiaoxia would leave the wounded soldier's body in Thoughtform, traveling farther ahead to scout the terrain and assess the situation. He also kept an eye on the Savage Beastmen army's movements.
Late that night, Riva felt Gurian wake on his back after falling asleep from exhaustion.
The group had taken a brief rest just ten minutes earlier, so everyone was now maintaining a fairly brisk pace.
"Lord Riva, where are we?"
Riva continued clearing the way as he walked, taking down his waterskin and handing it to Gurian.
"Have some water. We just passed the Qilin Peak
