Chapter 673: Turning point
The addition of the Faeries gave the guerrilla army wings, making its operations even more effective.
Another ten days passed, and more than four thousand Faeries arrived from every direction, bringing the guerrilla army's numbers to ten thousand.
The Faeries, every one of them a handsome man or beautiful woman, also filled the entire guerrilla army with new vitality.
These Soma People were all truly elite warriors. Though their talk was sometimes shameless and unfiltered, they genuinely accepted the formidable Faeries as comrades.
At first, the Faeries, especially the women among them, struggled to adjust to an environment filled with swearing and dirty jokes, even though the warriors toned it down whenever they noticed a Fairy nearby.
Gradually, however, the Faeries grew accustomed to the group. At least these Soma warriors treated them as comrades, and they were trustworthy brothers-in-arms.
The Faeries were exceptionally accurate archers. With them in the ranks, the army's chances of killing Giant Monsters increased dramatically, even in head-on encounters without traps.
In particular, a dozen or so Fairies in a unit could often shoot out a Giant Monster's eyes within a few breaths. Their arrows could not inflict enough damage on the rest of its body, but the Soma warriors had effective methods of slaughtering the creatures.
During this time, some unusual long-lived races also came after hearing of their reputation: Blue Spirit People with gills on their faces, who could breathe underwater like fish; Winged People who could communicate simply with birds and plants, with downy wings and hooked talons on their feet that enabled them to fly; and Savage Bear People, only slightly smaller than Giant Monsters, with fangs, sharp claws, and short fur covering everything except their faces and arms.
