It was entirely possible for a demigod to spend decades finally researching a virtual divinity Spell Formula, only for every attempt at God Creation to end in failure, and only then realize that the divine spirit they wanted to create already existed in the world. Unless the old divine spirit was destroyed, they would never be able to turn their research into results.

What was most terrifying was that when you began your research, you were certain the old divine spirit had already been destroyed. But while you were researching, someone else created that old divine spirit first, and you knew nothing about it.
