Rajesh's failure seemed to mark the end of this phase of Angel Hunting. After all, once they had witnessed the Hell Trial, Angel Hunting somehow seemed dull by comparison. What came next had already become garbage time; everyone just wanted to finish the fight, go home, and properly wallow in that melancholy sense of the fox grieving for the dead rabbit.
But for Ash and the other three, the most dangerous moment had only just begun.
Vishy's hollow wings were all broken, and her serious injuries had yet to heal. Philly and Niya were also wounded all over. And though Rajesh's advancement ritual had interrupted Angel Hunting, it had not stopped the Six Kingdoms Legion from continuously spawning troops. So when Ash and the others came back to their senses, the building was already packed with high-tier units.
They should have run while Rajesh was carrying out his advancement ritual, but at the time, Ash's spine was badly injured, Vishy was practically made of water, and even if Philly and Niya had carried them on their backs, they would not have gotten far.
"If we'd known saving you would land us in a dead end like this, we should've dumped you and run," Ash said.
"I once mastered a miracle called Early Knowledge," Vishy replied calmly. "Its effect was to make the enemy predict my actions, then I predicted his prediction and lured him into my trap."
"For many people, their last words before death are, 'If I'd known it would turn out like this, I would've done such-and-such.'" Vishy shot him a sideways glance. "As last words go, yours follow the format perfectly."
