"What a meat grinder."

Annan stood on the high platform, watching the city streets below fill with spellcasters. The Rainbow Holy Grail was like a light in the deep sea, drawing countless greedy pursuers to chase and surround it.

But looking at this noisy, chaotic scene, she was more inclined to call the Rainbow Holy Grail a lump of shit. Wherever it went, everything became a shithole.

Starlight Bodies and spellcasters were killing each other. Spellcasters and spellcasters were killing each other. Some spellcasters launched sneak attacks and ambushes, while others formed teams to hunt.

Tens of thousands of spellcasters had gathered to wage war, but not for faith, much less for ideals. The air was thick with naked greed and malice. Spellcasters steeped in desire had gone mad for an illusory opportunity. Even if they were forbidden from using claws and fangs, they were still the most savage beasts.

"The mastermind who set up this event just wanted to watch such an ugly, barbaric spectacle?"

"Is competition between civilizations not ugly?" Siffrin crouched beside her, holding her face in both hands. "This event is actually not bad. At least every participant has a chance to soar to the top in one step, and even if they lose, they're responsible for it themselves."

"At least competition between civilizations doesn't involve nakedly slaughtering each other."

"But the consequences of losing in competition between civilizations are worse than death. Every bit of your value will be drained dry, marrow scraped from bone, until nothing is left. And a lot of the time, you don't even know how you lost. Not only do you never get a chance to become a participant, you might even end up as someone else's prize."

Annan shook her head, clearly not particularly agreeing with Siffrin's view.
