"I hate your cold, slimy little friends," the Banshee glanced at him, a charming smile on her lips, but her voice was cold. "And everything ugly."
The Banshee, who suddenly appeared on deck, had black hair and blood-red eyes. She was tall and wrapped in a loose black robe, with only a sliver of bright red lips and a stretch of snow-white neck visible beneath the hood.
She seemed to be carrying something on her back, which made the robe bulge and the golden emblem on it exceptionally conspicuous.
The emblem's main body was a golden "工" character, with two exquisite skulls in the concave parts on either side. Any demon who had achieved a certain level of cultivation would recognize this emblem.
It was the Lich King's emblem.
Only direct inheritors of the Lich King could use such an emblem.
In the eyes of Wizards, demons were all the same.
Blood-red eyes, dark hearts.
Just as in the eyes of demons, Wizards were all the same, their flesh emitting fragrance, their souls containing essence.
But divisions were always present.
Within the Wizard Alliance, there were the estranged Wizard Council and the Under the Moon Council.
In the world of demons, the spheres of influence of the various Demon Kings were also clearly delineated.
The Black Ship was a subordinate of the Sea Demon King.
And the Banshee who had just boarded belonged to the Lich King.
Harry, who had been sleeping on a lounge chair, had already rolled into the cabin. The "Miss Dodo" he was holding had disappeared somewhere, replaced by a bouquet of vibrant roses.
"How may I be of service to you, charming lady?" He knelt on one leg before Nikita, a proper smile on his face, his blood-red eyes shining like rubies.
If only he could wipe the drool from the corner of his mouth, it would be perfect.
"Put on your robe before you speak to me!" The Banshee raised her head proudly, her tone filled with utter disdain.
For a Lich, a robe was the most basic form of respect.
Whether it was the pink POLO shirt or the white and green striped beach shorts, neither made the Banshee feel Harry's sincerity.
"That expression is just too cute!" Harry clenched the roses in his hand, slowly tightening his grip. Strands of dark green mixed with purplish-red juice flowed from between his fingers. A look of longing appeared in his blood-red eyes, as if a mad artist had discovered a rare treasure. "So cute I want to eat you!"
Nikita paid no mind to Harry's mad ramblings. She strode lightly, bypassed the infatuated man kneeling before her, and headed straight for the cabin.
"Yo! Little imp. Before you lecture others on respect, why don't you learn some manners yourself?" The blonde youth appeared at the cabin door at some point, a cigarette held unlit in his mouth, his eyelids raised as he looked at her.
For some reason, a small breeze blew across the sea, making the Banshee's robe flutter and tightly cling to her graceful figure.
The object on her back also revealed a clearer outline.
It seemed to be a child.
The blonde youth narrowed his eyes.
A Lich carrying a child to see the captain was a rare sight among demons. After all, for demons, the only benefit of young ones was their tender flesh and smooth texture.
He licked his lips.
The hem of the Banshee's robe shifted, revealing a dark red Spellbook with gold embroidery on its cover.
"I'm in a hurry," the Banshee said, looking up and revealing a pair of captivating large eyes. Her dark red pupils shimmered with a dangerous glint under the bright sun.
The blonde youth chewed the cigarette in his mouth, slowly savoring the golden tobacco.
He didn't reply, only his breathing became longer.
On the main mast, the strong man hanging in a crucified pose slightly moved his head, as if regaining a spark of life.
"We have plenty of time, beautiful!" Behind her, Harry's oily voice rang out again. "Besides, the little one you're carrying smells better than you do."
The voice was close, as if right by her ear.
The Banshee did not turn her head.
She heard a long inhalation circling behind her neck, continuous and seemingly endless.
A chilling aura spread forward from behind with this inhalation, ready to engulf her at any moment.
The senior Liches had always said that the Sea Demon King's subordinates were a bunch of barbarians who had just shed their beastly nature, bloodthirsty and irrational.
Now, Nikita felt that this summary was incomplete.
She felt the need to add one more point: these barbarians were also rude, showing no tolerance or patience towards ladies.
She knew that if she didn't explain something, it would be difficult for her to enter the cabin so close at hand.
The little person on her back shrunk back.
She hesitated no longer.
"She's from the Black Prison," Nikita said softly, reaching out to stroke the child on her back.
"Cough, cough, cough." The blonde youth seemed to have choked on the tobacco he was chewing. He clutched his chest, bent over, and coughed violently, completely unconcerned about exposing his abdomen to the Banshee's captivating gaze.
"Thump!" The burly man hanging from the mast broke free from his restraints and crashed heavily onto the deck. The Black Ship swayed violently a few times, causing ripples on the calm sea.
The chilling aura behind her also vanished without a trace. Nikita could clearly feel Harry holding his breath, his face flushed, cautiously creating distance between himself and her.
A satisfied smile touched her lips.
A Banshee always knows how to amaze everyone.
"Come in," a gentle voice, though slightly nasal, called out from the ship's cabin.
Pushing aside the blond youth who was bent over, coughing violently, Nikita lowered her body and squeezed into the dark cabin.
In the sky, a large bird that had been circling for a long time let out a cry and suddenly spread its wings, flying away.
"It's her!" the burly man exclaimed, touching his bald head and asking in a hoarse voice.
The blond youth was still coughing.
Harry squinted, watching the large bird fly away until it became a black dot, disappearing against the azure backdrop.
He knew the strong man was referring to Nikita.
He also knew what the strong man meant: whether the large bird, which had been watching the Black Ship for three days, was looking for Nikita.
This large bird was the eyes of the Wizards.
Eyes only shift their gaze when they see what they want to see.
"You'll have to ask the captain about something like this," Harry said, pulling out his Miss Dodo, fanning himself, and grinning at the burly man with a glib reply.
Following the downward sloping stairs to the cabin, Nikita felt a bit lost.
Just like the color of the ship, the cabin was pitch black, and the space appeared very cramped and confining, barely able to hold much.
This was quite different from the spacious and luxurious hall she had expected.
Whether it was during her years as a Wizard or in the days she had fallen into becoming a Demon, in her memory, she had rarely encountered such a narrow space. Wizards and Demons with even a little outstanding ability always had various ways to expand space and create a comfortable environment for themselves.
She blinked, quickly adapting to the dim light in the cabin.
Not far from the entrance to the stairs was a thick wooden pillar; judging by its position, it was likely the main mast of this Black Ship. Some wooden boxes were casually piled under the pillar, and near the corner, an iron-banded wine barrel lay on its side, its lid open and the inside empty.
The Banshee's slender eyebrows furrowed.
She felt the child on her back trembling.
She reached out and patted it reassuringly.
"The ship is a bit old, please bear with it," a gentle voice came from below and to the left. Only then did Nikita realize with surprise that there was actually a small patch of light at the bottom of this dark ship.
Directly above the light was a grid of iron bars. Bright sunlight streamed through the gaps in the steel, casting a colorful pattern into the dark cabin, making the shadow leaning against the cabin wall on the left appear even darker.
That gentle voice was coming from that darkness.
