The corpses strewn before them no longer had any shocking effect, at least not on Nova.
Perhaps he had gradually begun to adapt to such an environment. After arriving in this world, these were things he had to face regularly. Mercy was something he simply could not afford to possess.
So he stepped over one corpse after another and slowly made his way toward the palace hall, with Lostar leading several people behind him.
If not for the sheer number of corpses, the scenery of this palace could have been called flawless. Yet even with so many bodies lying on the ground, they barely affected its beauty.
However, once they entered the palace, the extravagance within left everyone speechless. The same circular dome rose at least fifty meters high, and the vast hall was so spacious that even the sound of breathing echoed.
The throne at the very top of the hall clearly belonged exclusively to the King of Roa.
The golden seat was obviously made of pure gold, with an enormous red gemstone set into its highest point. It was nearly two meters wide, enough to seat two or three people without any issue.
The walls on both sides of the hall, as well as the pillars, were all decorated with gold. The decorations in this palace hall alone probably could not have been completed without several billion Beli.
The Roa Kingdom had always been a nation with vast territory, yet its people had long lived in desperate hardship. It was hard to imagine just how extravagant this king had become.
There were no corpses inside this hall. They had likely all fled outside, making the place appear especially elegant and luxurious.
The dome at the top of the palace was made entirely of glass. Light streamed down through it, making the entire hall appear magnificent and resplendent.
"Your Majesty, this place is far too astonishing!"
Lostar looked completely overwhelmed by the sight as he exclaimed.
"These things were built from the flesh and blood of who knows how many people. It is indeed surprising. But right now, I'm more curious about one thing—just how much money is stored in this king's treasury?" Nova said with a smile.
"I will have it counted as soon as possible and submit the results to you, Your Majesty."
Lostar said.
"What do you think about moving the royal palace here in the future?" Nova asked.
"It is not impossible, but the two places are too far apart. I still believe the location of our Tru King's Palace is better. Naniwa Port has already been fully developed, and commerce will be concentrated there from now on. This place is comparatively less convenient."
Lostar said.
"You have a point. Still, it is a pity to waste such a fine building." Nova sighed softly.
"The commercial plans I made earlier must be implemented in this region as soon as possible. We will stay here for two days, then return without delay.
We need to sort through all the plans for what comes next. I do not demand that cities like Jiro and Gucangli become like our current cities within two years, but at the very least, all the people's survival problems must be resolved within two years. As for what should be done after that, that is something you must consider.
Before we return, you must give me a proposal. You are no longer merely the nation's purse; more importantly, you are the god who sustains the people's lives."
Nova spoke to Lostar calmly, his expression unreadable.
Upon hearing this, Lostar became extremely solemn, though his heart was filled with restless excitement and other emotions.
This was an enormous undertaking, and even Lostar had no choice but to treat it with caution. Fortunately, he and his subordinates had already been considering these matters. Now, they merely needed to make slight adjustments based on the actual situation of this country.
When Lostar first earned Nova's recognition, he had merely been someone in the palace responsible for relaying messages to outsiders. Nova had taken a liking to his quick wit and intelligence, elevating him from the lowest rank directly into the upper levels of the nation.
But facts proved that Nova's overall decision had not been wrong. Lostar had indeed demonstrated his worth in the Tru Kingdom.
From the nation's initial poverty and destitution to its earth-shattering transformation over the past two years, all the plans had been issued by Nova, but Lostar had been their executor from beginning to end. In many respects, he had even exceeded Nova's initial expectations.
Now that his king had assigned him such a task, Lostar no longer felt the nervousness and excitement he had at the beginning. What he felt more was responsibility and resolve.
For once, Lostar did not adjust his glasses. He crossed his hands at his waist and bowed respectfully, speaking in a calm, gentle voice. "Please rest assured, Your Majesty. Within these two days, I will certainly prepare a plan that satisfies you."
"You have worked hard on this matter. The nation will not forget what you have given, and all this hardship will be repaid to you one day."
"Your Majesty, you flatter me," Lostar said hurriedly.
Nova looked at the bowed Lostar with satisfaction and patted him on the shoulder. Lostar was nearly ten years older than Nova, yet his way of thinking was enough to win everyone's respect.
"Come on. Let's see what this King of Roa actually looked like. Have the others search as well. He has probably died somewhere by now." Nova said with a smile.
"The King of Roa? Your Majesty, that huge fat man lying facedown in front of the hall when we came in should have been the King of Roa!"
As soon as Lostar heard Nova's words, he immediately recalled him.
After all, when they had entered earlier, he had specifically noticed that huge fat man lying there, thoroughly dead. The crown on his head clearly marked him as no ordinary person. Besides, there had been almost no one in this palace hall, which meant they had likely all died outside. As for their king, a man with no strength to speak of, he naturally could not have run faster than anyone else.
"Is that so? Then we should hurry and take a look..."
Nova was genuinely as curious as a child at that moment. When he entered, he truly had not paid much attention to the people lying on the ground. In any case, they were already inside the hall. It only took a few steps to go outside.
But once they stepped out, they saw an enormous fat man who looked as though he weighed at least five or six hundred jin lying face down stiffly on the ground. There was no need to think about it—the clothes he wore were made from the fabrics produced by Nova's own country.
He wore incredibly extravagant adornments, especially the crown atop his head, which was set with more than a dozen huge gemstones.
