As for what kind of chaos Gotham would descend into after the livestream was cut off, Su Ming did not care at all. If the chaos really drew out Batman, that would be perfect.

He picked up Barbara beside him, set her in the Wheelchair, and pushed her into the carriage.

"Not bad acting. You've got talent as a female streamer."

Vicki secretly curled her lip beside them. Did being able to act mean someone could be a female streamer? She had worked hard in this profession—makeup, etiquette, all kinds of knowledge. She had put in plenty of effort.

Barbara shivered from the cold, completely soaked through by the rain, but her pale lips trembled as she spoke.

"If we do this, will my father be safe?"

Su Ming gestured for Vicki and Pete to get in. They had been kidnapped. As the two climbed in reluctantly, Cindy started the vehicle.

"I'm not sure, but using my name as a threat can at least buy your father some time." Su Ming searched the carriage, found a towel, and handed it to Barbara.

"Because it will make the kidnappers hesitate. Think about the consequences of angering Deathstroke. They'll have to think twice about whatever they planned to do to Commissioner Gordon, weigh the gains and losses. That time is what we need."

Cindy floored the accelerator. Her extraordinary reflexes made driving effortless for her, and she still had time to join Su Ming and Barbara's conversation.

Barbara nodded and looked at Su Ming gratefully.

"Thank you. You're a good person."

"Forget the good-person card. Once Gordon is rescued, I'll send him the bill." Su Ming immediately shook his head in refusal. Good-person cards were far too unlucky.

"Hehe, you really don't seem like a killer. You can even make jokes."

Barbara took Su Ming's words as a joke and finally relaxed. She felt exhausted, but now she had something to rely on. The title of the world's strongest Mercenary gave her much more confidence in Gordon's safety.

Vicki sat quietly across from them, watching the two, feeling certain that the end of the world had to be coming.

A world-famous homicidal maniac was actually chatting and laughing with the daughter of the Gotham Police Department commissioner. He had even livestreamed some bizarre fake-death act. Vicki felt the world had gone completely mad.

And from the sound of it, Deathstroke was on his way to rescue Commissioner Gordon. He had put up a two-million bounty just to keep Gordon alive.

"Using murder to save another person... that is the least logical thing I've ever heard, yet somehow it feels perfectly natural."

After thinking it over, Vicki ignored Pete's warning look and took the initiative to speak to Su Ming.

Su Ming looked at her. She had not appeared on camera at all earlier. The TV station probably thought she was dead by now. Had her professional instincts returned so quickly that she had forgotten her fear?

"Kill one to save one. That is the way of balance. I'm doing what I should do."

He removed his helmet. The carriage was warmer, and moisture had condensed inside the helmet like a steamer. He had never considered that wearing a uniform could be this uncomfortable.

Though Vicki was also startled to discover that he was male, it lasted only a moment. She continued professionally, "Then do you think you're mentally ill, Mr. Deathstroke? Have you ever felt that there was something wrong with you?"

Pete's eyes widened beside her. That was a deadly question!

Su Ming became interested, because this was a question that her counterpart in another world had once asked Batman.

"Then do you think this world is normal?" He had read the comics, so he gave the standard answer: a question in return.

Sure enough, the answer left Vicki deep in thought. She frowned and fell silent.

Pete, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief. Damn it, when they got back, he was definitely quitting. He would not do this job again no matter how much they paid him. It was too damn thrilling.

Cindy, who was driving, had also heard Su Ming's theory about balance. She did not know he had made it up on the spot. Instead, she found it deeply philosophical, like one of those proverbs from an ancient Eastern nation.

The vehicle sped through the torrential rain, passing streets and alleys. They actually ran into some robbers and road thugs who had come out to look for prey despite the storm, but whenever Cindy poked her head out the window, all the punks fled in terror.

After so much time on the road, Vicki was no longer very afraid. She found that Deathstroke did not seem as insane as the rumors claimed. Instead, he had his own understanding of the world and a unique way of seeing things.

When she saw the thugs blocking the road run away, she even sighed in disappointment. If Deathstroke had fought them, perhaps she could have filmed a little bonus clip.

"You seem disappointed. Do you like seeing people killed?" Su Ming sharply caught her quiet sigh.

"No, no." Vicki shook her head. "I just wanted to film some fight scenes. The audience likes them."

"Fine. Since you want to film, if we find clues to the people who took Gordon and go on a killing spree in their hideout, you can record it. As long as the big guy beside you doesn't throw up."

Su Ming decided to offer her a little compensation. After all, she was DC's lucky star, so it was better not to offend her too badly. But as for Pete beside her, merely seeing a man over six feet tall acting all coy and effeminate was enough to make Su Ming sick of him.

"Great! He'll be fine. Right, Pete?!"

Under Vicki's imposing stare, the big man agreed with a submissive expression. Su Ming turned his head away. He felt like throwing up.

Vicki nodded in satisfaction and squeezed herself between Barbara and Su Ming.

"Thank you. If that really happens, I'll have another exclusive!"

"It benefits both of us. We Mercenaries need advertising sometimes too. Television stations are a good platform."

If this world still had a future, Su Ming would not mind bringing in some business for himself or Cindy.

Vicki's eyes lit up. She pulled a small notebook from her pocket, opened it, and assumed the posture of an interviewer, leaving Su Ming unsure whether to laugh or cry.

"I thought you were a television reporter."

"TV reporters can write things down too. So, Mr. Deathstroke, would it be convenient to reveal your relationship with the other Deathstroke driving the vehicle? Or are you not Deathstroke at all, and she is the real one?"

Cindy let out a smug laugh. See? Everyone thought she was the genuine article. Su Ming looked more like a version of Batman who killed.

Su Ming sighed. He simply did not want to slaughter innocents. He drew the sword from his back. "It seems killing all of you would be better after all."

"Don't!!!"

"I'm kidding. Batwoman likes you. All the lunatics in the city are your fans. Maybe Jester watches your news reports in Arkham every day." Su Ming sheathed the sword again. Indiscriminate killing was not his style.

At the mention of Batwoman, Vicki grew excited again. Her eyes darted around with curiosity.

"Oh? Really? Then why doesn't she come find me? If I leave my address and phone number, can you pass them along to her? I want to do an exclusive interview with her."

"Who are you talking about? Batman or Jester?"

"Either is fine." Vicki wore a hungry, indiscriminate expression and licked her lips, like those middle-aged men in Su Ming's former world who told dirty jokes.

"You're crazy too. Are there even any normal people left in this city?" Su Ming was both annoyed and amused.

The carriage was filled with cheerful laughter. Only Barbara did not know what expression to make. The moment Jester came up, she felt her lower back start hurting again.
