Batwoman immediately bent down to check on the Trench Coat Fighter.
But the trench-coated man showed no other signs of poisoning. He merely seemed to be in unbearable pain.
Joker stopped laughing at the right moment as well. Leaning on his chair and gasping for breath, he said, "Don't panic. This toxin only causes stomach pain. If you'd drunk the soup, you definitely would've been fine, but he doesn't seem as tough as you. Then again, ordinary people can't endure a stomachache, hahaha."
Batwoman roughly understood what had happened.
She had been injured earlier and exposed to the new hallucinogenic laughing gas. If she had also drunk soup that caused intense pain, her willpower might have collapsed.
Joker simply hadn't expected the Trench Coat Fighter to appear. From the moment this man escaped the bathtub, everything had slipped out of Joker's control. And he had actually had the courage to come help.
Now, the Trench Coat Fighter had taken this attack for her, and Joker's plan had fallen through. But that was precisely why Joker found it so amusing that he couldn't stop laughing.
Batwoman pulled out some military morphine from her belt. She did not carry much of the stuff, since she normally had no use for painkillers, but she still gave the trench-coated man her only dose.
It did not take effect quickly, or perhaps Joker's poison was simply too potent. It took the Trench Coat Fighter quite a while to get back on his feet.
During that time, Joker merely pulled the apple from the roast suckling pig's mouth and chewed on it.
When he saw the trench-coated man stand up again, he even applauded a few times.
"Not bad, not bad at all. The way you wailed was so captivating, hahahahaha."
Batwoman remained expressionless. "Enough, Joker.
