Batwoman had never found Joker's tricks funny.
Perhaps there had been one time, when the two of them laughed aloud in the face of The Killing Joke. But Joker had won that time, because back then, laughter was the only way Batwoman could think of to vent the grief in her heart.
But not this time.
As Joker put on his farce, Batwoman threw every Batarang she had. Then, after a running start, she ran up the wall and used her cape to glide toward Joker.
Joker realized what was happening a moment too late. He raised his gun to fire, but the Batarangs had not only ricocheted off the walls and floor—they had also collided with one another and changed course.
One dart flew in from behind him, passing through his blind spot and between his legs before bouncing up and embedding itself in his wrist.
"Ah? Hahahahaha!" The gun fell from Joker's hand, but he held his hand before his face, pulled out the Batarang, and watched blood spurt like a fountain. "I got a present! I got a Batarang! Hahahahaha."
"Bang!"
A heavy, powerful shoulder slam answered him. Batwoman had already flown into his face, then used the momentum to pin him beneath her. Her fists, as big as casserole dishes, came down from both sides, pounding Joker's head like a bobblehead.
"Bang bang bang!"
"Hahahahaha!"
"Bang bang bang!"
"Hee hee hee hee hee!"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
"Ugh, hoo hoo, heh heh."
No matter how brutally Batwoman beat him, Joker simply lay there and let her. Every time his head was knocked to one side, he immediately snapped it back around and kept smiling at Batwoman.
Even with his face covered in blood and crimson streaming from every orifice, he was still smiling.
