Background / History
Konoha was a major shinobi village whose interests were tied to the Land of Fire. Its powerful clans supplied much of its military strength, while the Uchiha clan controlled the Konoha Military Police Force and, at one point, the main gate. The police role made the Uchiha widely resented, while their exclusion from the High Command left them politically isolated. 6 8
During the Second Shinobi World War, Konoha faced alliances of Sunagakure, Iwagakure, and Amegakure. Hiruzen Sarutobi personally entered the war after the conflict escalated, but his reinforcements were ambushed and suffered heavy losses. Uchiha Liu Feng's subsequent actions reversed Konoha's deteriorating position, though he made clear that he had not acted for the village's sake. 28 49 52
Tensions between Konoha's leadership and the Uchiha escalated into open conflict. After Hiruzen chose to sacrifice the Sarutobi clan rather than yield, Liu Feng destroyed Konoha with the Great Spiraling Ring and led the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans out of the Land of Fire. Hiruzen's prior evacuation saved many civilians, but approximately one-quarter of the village's population was killed. 74
Konoha rebuilt quickly enough to retain its underlying strength, but it was later defeated by Kirigakure in a half-month war. Hiruzen surrendered to prevent its destruction, accepting territorial losses and annual supply payments to the Land of Water. 76 94 96 98
The village remained weakened by subsequent wars, internal disputes, and the departure of major clans. The Hyuga clan ultimately relocated to Kirigakure after Konoha's leadership lacked the strength to stop them. 155 156
During the final conflict against Obito and the Ten-Tails, Konoha called for aid and became the gathering point for the allied shinobi forces. After the wider ninja world submitted to Liu Feng, he ordered the original village leveled and a new settlement built on its site. 174 190

Appearance
Konoha was originally a developed shinobi village with major clan territories occupying its central areas. After its first destruction, it was rebuilt; after its final defeat, the remaining structures were deliberately leveled to make way for a settlement planned to be ten times larger than the old village. 11 76 190
