"Hello, I'm Er Niu." Er Niu's voice was a bit awkward, clearly unaccustomed to speaking so gently to newcomers.
Back in the day, he was a "fruit-slicing" expert who'd straight-up carve a newbie into a human stump with a knife!
Now he had to patiently explain the Reincarnation Space to a bunch of old folks, office drones, and students.
For Er Niu, this was pure torture!
Er Niu rambled on nonsense until the veteran's exclusive one-hundred-point introduction reward hit his account. As a big-time farming player, he immediately shut his mouth and said nothing more.
Thankfully.
Among the crowd, a girl with green hair reorganized Er Niu's explanation and spoke up.
"So we have to pass the trials of each horror film. The more dangerous the situation, the greater the rewards."
She glanced at Da Qiang, who had just displayed his power. "When the time comes, we can become like him too—unbelievably strong."
"Got it!"
Everyone suddenly understood!
A burly, stubbly strongman stood up and slapped his thigh. "Damn! I was already sick of living anyway! Now this is perfect! With a chance like this—once in a lifetime! We've gotta go to that, that whatever."
He stumbled over his words, and Ruan Wei picked up: "Engineer Planet."
"Right! Engineer Planet!" The strongman rubbed his hands together. "Then our odds of becoming supermen and gaining immortality are way higher!"
Facing a boring life, everyone present had similar feelings.
Even the auntie who'd just been punched flying by Da Qiang for making noise—she was actually tired of babysitting her grandkids every day. One day, while dusting her grandson's computer desk, she saw a [yes/no] pop-up, clicked it, and ended up in the Main God Space.
Er Niu's exaggerated spiel tricked these newbies into thinking horror film cycles were a piece of cake.
Of course, for a farming team member like Er Niu, the rewards from one horror film were four or five times what a normal Reincarnator got. His strength was overwhelming, so naturally his description was simple.
But he didn't tell the truth.
If he'd so much as mentioned what he'd encountered last time in Ju-On, these people would probably do a Sichuan opera face-change and start screaming to go back to Earth.
"From the film Alien: Covenant, our biggest enemy should be the synthetic human, David." The green-haired short-haired girl continued. "Difficulty should be low—probably a transitional film for newbies."
Er Niu was dumbfounded!
The con job Da Qiang had given him was perfectly completed under this green-haired big-brain's mouth?
Fang Yu, curled up in a corner, smiled without a word.
Every cycle, the team would "refresh" with all kinds of roles, positions, and specializations.
Types like strength-type, tech-type, agility-type were common.
Sages were rarer.
But obviously, this green-haired girl wasn't one.
She never considered why the Main God went through all the trouble of dragging so many people into a horror cycle space to experience terror.
Thirty-five crewmates with modern weapons—even against Xenomorphs, that's overwhelming combat power.
In reality, the Main God Space didn't just test the Reincarnator Team based solely on what the original movies showed.
It often automatically adjusted the difficulty.
Even if the team's movie was called SpongeBob's Big Adventure, the Main God could mutate Squidward into a Cthulhu giant squid.
In the Main God's domain, there was never a horror film you could breeze through with your eyes closed.
"Alright, since this so-called Main God has gathered us together, then from now on, we're teammates." The green-haired short-haired beauty smiled at everyone. "Let me introduce myself—my name is Ono Kei, half-Japanese, half-Chinese."
"Ah, so were you just speaking Chinese or Japanese?" a blondie covered his mouth and asked.
"Japanese," Ono Kei said, nodding like the typical Japanese person you'd see on TV.
"No wonder I felt like your speech was glitching sometimes—so amazing! I could actually understand!"
Er Niu reluctantly explained: "In the Main God Space, no matter what language you speak, even a dialect, it automatically converts into something everyone can understand."
"Awesome!" Ono Kei clapped her hands. "Now I don't have to learn Chinese anymore!"
Watching her bright smile, Fang Yu's gaze swept past Zero and Meng Yao for a second.
Meng Yao had a smile on her lips, but the killing intent in her eyes was completely undeniable.
Naive Ono Kei had really picked a good time.
If everyone's background had been ordinary city folk instead of crewmates, she'd have been chopped up by Meng Yao the moment she spoke her second sentence.
After Da Qiang showed off his strength, he didn't seem to impose more restrictions on the newbies. He sat silently beside Meng Yao, muttering something under his breath. Fang Yu wanted to listen but was afraid of being exposed, so he didn't edge closer.
Ruan Wei wanted to regain his authority. He pulled Ono Kei aside and whispered a few words.
Not long after, Ruan Wei and Ono Kei returned to the group, and through Ono Kei's mouth, he voiced his own idea.
"Everyone, introduce yourselves—including your jobs and what you're good at. That way, I can assign you the most suitable tasks."
As soon as those words left her mouth, Meng Yao couldn't hold back. She blinked at Da Qiang. "This little girl's trying to pull the team into her hands."
"Who cares! Newbies calling themselves Reincarnators—aren't they just ordinary people? They've never even held a gun, can't compare to any Interstellar Colonist in the movies." Da Qiang spat. "If they get in the way, kill 'em. A thousand points isn't something I can't afford."
"Why bother killing? Just cut off her legs and leave her to fend for herself—same result." Meng Yao's voice was soft and gentle, as if the topic on her lips wasn't a matter of human life, but whether a sunflower seed shell belonged in the dry trash bin or the wet one.
"Now then. Your turn!"
After Ruan Wei introduced himself as a corporate executive, and Ono Kei said she was a dance streamer, Ono Kei turned her gaze to Fang Yu in the corner.
"Duke. Unemployed, living at home." Fang Yu said nothing more, replying with just four words.
"Is that so?" Ono Kei kept sizing him up. "Then what are you good at? Your strong suit? Something you're into?"
"Used to work nine-to-five. Got hooked on novels later." Fang Yu pulled his cap brim lower as he answered again.
"Got it." Ono Kei clapped her hands. "So everyone's introduced themselves. Oh right, there's one more over there!"
Da Qiang had already introduced himself, and Er Niu had spoken too.
Ono Kei, with a death wish, set her gaze on Meng Yao's face.
"Hey, that little lady's calling you!" Da Qiang wore an expression like he was watching a show.
Meng Yao didn't seem particularly annoyed. She squeezed out a harmless-looking expression at Ono Kei and said:
"What a coincidence. I'm in the business of serving men too. Same as you."
Ono Kei, utterly shameless, instead seemed excited like she'd found a fellow professional. She trotted over and grabbed Meng Yao's hand.
"Sis, are you a dance streamer too?"
Meng Yao smiled. Her laugh was bone-chilling.
"I'm a black widow," she said, pulling out a knife and pressing its tip against Ono Kei's cheek, continuing, "specializing in eating old men over sixty down to the last heir."
