A Spendthrift Journey Beginning with Learning Alchemy
After more than three years of Magic Study, Bell had mastered the fundamentals of Ancient Runes.
This knowledge was essential to Alchemy, so after mastering it, Bell prepared to begin learning Alchemy.
His first goal was to create a Defensive Magic Item.
"A wizard who doesn't carry a whole set of magical items isn't a qualified wizard!" Guided by this simple belief, Bell conducted a detailed investigation into the magical items currently available in the Magical World, and then he discovered something rather peculiar.
Although the Magical World had many magical items, most of them were Functional Items, such as Remembralls, Sneakoscopes, Pensieves, and Two-Way Mirrors.
The rest were basically Black Magic Items for Deception, and the kind that would trick their users before they could trick anyone else.
So had those Dark Wizards really damaged their brains by researching Dark Magic?
As for magical items meant for direct attack or defense, there were practically none. Everything relied on a single Wand.
After thinking it over carefully, Bell found this situation perfectly normal.
After thousands of years of development, Modern Spells had truly become incredibly advanced and convenient.
Someone as powerful as Grindelwald could cast the Fiendfyre Curse capable of destroying all of Paris, while even Little Wizards at Hogwarts could easily use Stunning Spells and Petrification Curses to take down an enemy.
So, rather than using magical items for attack and defense, it was often better to simply cast spells with a Wand.
Furthermore, the Peaceful Life of recent years had only worsened this trend.
Many Hogwarts Graduates could not even cast the most basic Protective Magic, the Shield Charm, yet no one felt worried. After all, the world was so peaceful and life was so wonderful. What did it matter if they knew a few more or fewer Curses?
Just as ostriches buried their heads in the sand when faced with danger, humans often deceived themselves in the same way and chose to run away.
But Bell never ran away! Whether it was the pursuit of power or paranoia, Bell wanted to become stronger—stronger still!
There were two ways to become stronger: one was to enhance one's own strength, and the other was to borrow External Power.
Bell declared that only children had to make choices. As an adult... as someone with the mental age of an adult, he wanted them all!
Of course, all of that was just an excuse. The real reason was that Bell lacked a sense of security. As a Fragile Profession—a "wizard"—he truly did not want to leave home without wrapping himself in several layers of shields!
So Bell decided to embark on the path of a Tech Otaku and save the wizarding world... supposedly.
Bell had never doubted that he would succeed in developing something.
After all, based on his limited memories of "Harry Potter," the Weasley Family's Twins had developed Shield Hats very early on, and they seemed to have been a byproduct of their research into Prank Items? The moment they succeeded, even with many flaws, the Ministry of Magic immediately ordered five hundred of them.
So you wizards spent every day eating... ahem, ahem. He should be civilized.
Thinking about it carefully, it was understandable that the Magical World's Research Ability was so poor and had stagnated for centuries. After all, Hogwarts's outstanding Graduates all went to work for the Ministry of Magic.
Bell had read many fantasy novels in his previous life, but he had never seen an author dare to arrange for an exceptional archmage to clock in at work every day. Even spending twenty-four hours in a laboratory researching the mysteries of magic would not feel like enough time, okay? Miscellaneous work was for Magic Apprentices.
So all the capable wizards had gone into politics, with no time left to research magic. Bell could only rely on Self-Reliance and Pray for Oneself.
Bell confidently began his Research and Development Journey, only to be forced to end it on the very first day.

There was no helping it. Bell, who had never touched Alchemy before, had absolutely no idea where to begin! Helpless, he could only turn to his Magical Parents.
"I want to learn Alchemy. Teach me."
"Sorry, I only know how to make Magical Statues."
"I've never learned Alchemy either. Hogwarts never taught it."

Looking at his useless parents, Bell was utterly speechless.
Perhaps William felt embarrassed under Bell's gaze? He suddenly said, "A few days ago, I met an Alchemy Master at a banquet. How about Bell goes and asks him for advice?"
"What are we waiting for, then? Hurry up and invite the master over! Galleons aren't a problem!"
Bell immediately agreed to the suggestion.
"Uh..."
William had meant for Bell to visit the man and ask him a few questions related to Alchemy. With William's reputation, the other party probably would not refuse such a small favor. But Bell actually wanted to invite him over as a Tutor?
Of course Galleons were not a problem. It was not this brat paying! Did he know how difficult it was to invite an Alchemy Master to teach? How expensive it was?
Still, William could only complain inwardly. There were only four people in the family, and there was no need to ask about the other two—they would definitely side with Bell. Just looking at Elena's expression told him everything. If he dared utter the word "no," he would probably be sleeping in the garden again tonight.
Why add "again"? The more said about it, the more tears there were. Better experience it for yourself.
"Oh, right! Since we're hiring Tutors anyway, we might as well hire a few more." Bell suddenly said, clapping his hands.
He had only just thought of it. Studying alone had serious limitations. Not only was it slow, but he could not guarantee that his understanding was correct.
Although Bell had directly asked his parents whenever he did not understand something over the past few years, they had been extremely busy with the Family Expansion Plan and had neither the time nor energy to give Bell a Systematic Explanation of various magical knowledge. So Bell decided to use this opportunity to hire several outstanding wizards to Identify and Fill Gaps for him, helping him Consolidate Foundation.
What could William do? Right now, he only wanted to give himself two hard slaps.
You just had to run your mouth!
But words once spoken were like water spilled on the ground; there was no taking them back. So he could only obediently pay up.
The family's expenses had increased severalfold over the past few years. They really were starting to spend more than they earned!
Bell began studying with the Tutors William had found, which made Little Shanna very unhappy because Gege had much less time to play with her.
And because she had caused trouble during Gege's lessons before when she could not understand them, Gege no longer allowed her to attend class with him. Gege said that was a waste of time and that she should learn the basics step by step.
So although she was unhappy, the sensible Little Shanna still obediently followed Gege's instructions.
The Tutors were not hired for long. After about half a year, and after ten Tutors had taught him, Bell stopped hiring them.
This made William let out a long sigh of relief. Every wizard he had hired was a notable figure in the British Wizarding World, and it had not been easy to invite them to privately teach Bell. He had not only exhausted many connections and spent many Galleons, but had even talked himself hoarse.
