Taking the Day Off-Updates Tonight

I thought I'd straightened out the plot, so I boasted that I could post an extra chapter today. But after writing just over a thousand words yesterday, I got stuck on the plot again. It all felt too clichéd, not good enough. Though instances were unavoidable, I designed every one with care, striving for different twists, different handling, different brilliance. From nine to midnight last night, then from five-thirty to six-thirty today, I sat there dryly for ages and still couldn't bring myself to write. I needed to think some more.

Actually, while my typing speed couldn't compare to those freakishly gifted monsters, I wasn't exactly clumsy-handed either. At my fastest, I could write two thousand words an hour. But I probably spent even more time beforehand polishing the plot, designing dialogue, and so on. All told, it took over three hours to finish a chapter properly.

No matter what, I wouldn't fob everyone off with chapters padded out carelessly. At the very least, every chapter had to contain one of what I considered a highlight, plot progression, foreshadowing, and so on.
