The sun shone brightly, the clear breeze was pleasant, and the fragrance of flowers filled the air. Gathering nectar in such weather, Xu Yu felt a joy that came from the bottom of her heart.
As she danced gracefully, Xu Yu discovered many butterflies of different colors around her, rising and falling amid the riotously blooming flowers in a lively scene. Warm sunlight spilled over their wings, so comfortable, while the sweet nectar was so delicious.
Butterfly Xu Yu's thoughts were simple. She felt only pure joy, without toil or sorrow. It seemed that such happiness was all she sought in life.
Several days later, Butterfly Xu Yu spotted a bright purple flower on a tree. Its rich fragrance whetted her appetite, and she hastily left her companions behind and flew toward it. But all of a sudden, Butterfly Xu Yu crashed into a sticky web, and no matter how her wings fluttered, she could not break free.
At that moment, Butterfly Xu Yu saw an ugly eight-legged monster crawl out from the shadows. Extreme terror and fear surged up within her, as though she had encountered her natural nemesis.
When the monster bit Butterfly Xu Yu and caused her unbearable agony, she gradually lost consciousness. When she sensed heaven and earth again, however, she found that she had become that monster.
"I'm a butterfly, aren't I? How did I become a spider?" Spider Xu Yu thought in confusion.
Yet when Spider Xu Yu saw her former companions fluttering about in their brilliant colors, hunger erupted from the depths of her heart. She carefully hid in the shadows and waited for her former butterfly companions to walk straight into her web.
Before long, a butterfly that had once happily gathered nectar with her was drawn in by that vivid purple
